I'm learning pretty fast that while building niche sites is fun and profitable, email marketing is an incredible avenue to explore as well.

I always thought that email marketing and building niche sites go hand in hand. Even though a website is not necessary to make money online, you can and should use email marketing to drive traffic to a website. Have the best of both worlds!
I suppose the research is right...but it seems to me that the key is properly "targeting" the email recipients...as opposed to a shotgun approach...just a thought...
Absolutely! A good list needs to be cultivated like a community and any "offer" needs to fit the community.
