The Life-Changing Power of Getting Up Earlier
On rare occasions, when a kid is sick or something was weird about the night before, I sleep in. And by "sleep in" I really mean, until the kids are up or until I just have to get up or people will be late for school or work.
On those days, I never feel productive by the end of the day.
But on days when I'm up at 4 (my usual time), I get to quitely work, study, pray, read, write, reflect, and think creatively while the world is dark and quiet.
Those 2.5 hours per day, which add up to about fifteen per week if I sleep in a little on Saturday, have become the most precious and productive of all.
I get more done before 7 am than I do the rest of the day. And then, I get to devote more of my day to people, to creative work, and to managing life.
My grandmother used to quote Ben Franklin a lot and say,
Early to bed, early to rise,
makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
Seems simple, right? But I can attest that it's powerful!

Hi there Brandon, yes the old saying "The early bird catches the worm" comes to mind here.I grew up on a farm in Africa and there's nothing like experiencing an early morning sunrise!. Although I must admit I'm not the best morning person around and sometimes I find burning the midnight oil really gets my imagination going.
Having said that, I am trying very hard to reverse the situation by going to bed earlier....................such is life!

Hello Brandon, thank you for your blog post, I can really relate to this 100%! If I don't get up early and generally I do, I can almost guarantee that I will not achieve much, it almost seems like I need to right off the day! I believe that first thing in the morning my output is at least double or maybe triple!
I really believe in your grandmother's words, it definitely works for me.
I'm getting married for the first time, this summer, to a fantastic Christian lady! My fiancé is more of a night person rather than a morning person, but she admits that if she gets up early, she achieves more! We will have to work out a balance!

Great post and photography! Thank you for sharing:). I completely agree, 100%. Life is so much better when we get a head start on our days. I've also found it just as nice and freeing to work in the night. After putting the husband and children to bed and I have a little time to myself. I do need to try to get to bed sooner every night, so I can get up sooner than everyone else. But then again I guess for me as a mom, with all mine either grown or in school, and the husband at work during the day, I do have during the day, when I'm not working my other job to be learning, researching, writing, and creating. I love my new life, and it's not even really begun! Wealthy Affiliate is life changing and refreshing. I hope to be with them a very long time. I wish everyone a very successful year! Awesome work!
