Andy Stanley's 'Best Question Ever'
I'm a lover of books, and one of the better ones I've read is Andy Stanley's The Best Question Ever. (It's easy to find.)
Stanley leads a huge organization (a church of tens of thousands that has planted many other churches too) and has a really great podcast for leaders.
He's one of the most pragmatic leaders I've ever learned from and in The Best Question Ever, he takes three chapters just to get to the question. It's so important he has to set it up well.
So, what is it? If you like suspense, stop reading and go buy the book.

What is wise?
That's it. In light of the situation, the opportunity, the challenge, the criticism, the threats, the risk, the potential... what is the wisest thing I can do?
I recently spoke to a friend who wishes to go from working a day job to being a successful online entrepreneur. That's a fantastic goal, of course, but my advice was to scale UP the online business until it can sustain you just enough that taking the leap won't kill you, THEN make your move.
Too many people make poor decisions based on emotion or ill-informed vision.
We need vision. We need a dream. But we also, desperately, need wisdom.
So, what's the next wise thing you should do?

Wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge and when you have left the room, leave the whole public, without exception, behind in a trance of astonishment and appreciation.
Wisdom is indeed knowing how to apply knowledge, but when you are a branch of The Vine, then wisdom becomes a relationship issue.
