Do Free Starter Members Get to Use Site Content and the Photos?

Thanks for this question.
I did not know that there are free images in Site Content not until now. When I searched the WA, this information about site content did not appear, so I used to have my own images or get it from pixabay.

The images are great, in fact my last post consists of all images from SiteContent. If I had to buy them from Dreamstime it would have cost me $68 Australian, or about $49 US.

Hey Dan you can get images here as per attachment

Thank you. I will check it out.

Hey Brad,

Given that Starter members have 7 whole days to complete the first set of 10 lessons in Level 1, and that Lesson 7 of Level 1 introduces them to SiteContent.

Kyle's training fom Lesson 7 was done before the FREE images became available.

Carson's announcement regarding the FREE images: says only for premium members. See screen print below...

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Trish,
Yes, very helpful thank you.

I am fairly sure they do

Thanks Vicki,

I was a free member for only 7 days before going premium and site content wasn't around then, so I wasn't sure.

I am using a non program from a non secure website that has become vital to my functioning website. In fact, it has become more important to me than dinner, I was going to say

We get SSL with our hosted WA blog s Brad. But we don't get SSL with the free ones

Thanks, Dave.

My site is secure with SSL but there is a site I am using to upload my photos that don't have SSL. My initial thoughts are it is okay to still use this site as long as I do not provide any of my details, passwords, financial details etc. And I have McAfee to keep me on guard when I download my results and if I didn't have McAfee I would not use the services of an unsecured site.

Cheers Dave,

Brad

Thanks for sharing.

I will still use this program because I do not have to disclose any info.and my McAfee scans their downloads. I just wanted to make 100% sure.

Hi Brad.

Here's what I use on most of my sites now: as this one is being touted as the best by those now selling SSL certificates.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Trish,

Thank you.

I am actually using a program from another website that has no SSL certificate. I am uploading images into their program but their site is not secure. I don't submit any details whatsoever and I am wondering if it is okay to continue using the program from this website? My McAfee has never picked up any problems while downloading the results from this website.

Cheers,

Brad

So then Brad, are you saying that your website IS showing a green padlock then?

You are receiving the same warning EVERYONE receives from HTTP websites (sites without security certificates) which is why it is so important for us to use SSL certificates on our websites.

Have you contacted the site you are uploading images too... perhaps you could encourage them to install a security certificate sooner?

If you are selling your own images, I would recommend you sell from sites like Dreamstime dot com who are the most reputable photograph website on the internet today (in my opinion, of course!).

Thanks Trish.

My site is secure but I am using another website to upload my images to. Their site is not secure but it is a free service and they rely on donations. I am just wondering if I can be affected by this site that has no padlock. I am not giving them any information only uploading my photos into their program then downloading the result and saving to my computer.

Basically, can I be hacked doing this? Even though none of my info is being submitted, only images.

If they are not connected to your website, and you are only using their service to (am guessing) edit your images... then I do not understand your fears.

Either way, I would let the website owner know of the prompts you are receiving.

Thanks, Trish,

You just reaffirmed what I thought but I wanted to make sure in case I miss advise others.
I will let the website owner know because he/she is missing out on donations.

Cheers,

Brad

Hello to all my fellow fantastic great WA members!!!

I am looking for an FTP client and text editor for Windows.

I saw Nathaniell's training re this subject but

I use FileZilla and Notepad and Notepad++.

Thanks, Marion. Much appreciated

Hey Brad,

Think most members may be using FileZilla as their FTP client, as it still remains free.

Here is Marion's tutorial using it here FileZilla: My FTP program is a paid for version of the freebie I started using back in the '90s. Their free version has not existed for several years now.

Not sure what you mean by text editor... unless you are referring to Word... which since WordPerfect is no more, I am now stuck with using and, Notepad when I want to strip out all formatting.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks, Trish, much appreciated. I am using Notepad for code editing. I am learning code now.

Notepad++ is better than Notepad for code editing, it has line numbers and other stuff. I also use Atom if I want to have 2 files open side-by-side for comparison.

Ooooh, you mean a HTML editor... then I fess up that I'm using an expired WYSIWYG software. KompoZer is the one I recommend to those new to learning HTML as it is very similar to my expired one.

I cannot find CPanel in our hosting and need to update 6 pages on my website for expiry headers.

Do we have a different system to access htaccess files?

err ... did not mean to eavesdrop on your conversation but I'm in search of what to do with a pingdom suggestion saying "add Expires headers" .... how please?

I'd be putting this to Zed at 'smartketeer' there's not much he can't answer. Jim

Hey Brad,

If you are referring to your WA account, we do not have cPanel access to our websites. Only WordPress admin and FTP. You can access your htaccess file via FTP access.

Here's a tutorial that you may find helpful: Not sure why your headers are expired. Have never heard of that before... unless you are referring to your browser's cached version of your pages or posts.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks Trish,

The Expiry headers are the version for Y slow Yahoo, same as leverage cache in Google. But yes, the page posts or pages is what I am referring to get the speed up.

I did a test run in GT Metrix and it said I have 6 static components without a far-future expiration date for Y slow (expired headers)
and 2 in Google for leverage browsing cache.

That GT Metrix is unreal. I thought I compressed all my images as much as I possibly could through image optimizer, then uploading to clipping magic, to delete the backgrounds, then uploading to Tinypng to compress even further. I managed to get 4MB plus files down to 93 KB 105KB etc. BUT after viewing my sites results through GT Metrix, I was able to get them down to 22 KB, 8KB 13KB by saving as and downloading the compressed images from GT M. I love this program.

That is the problem with those methods for caching. If your website is on the WA servers you do not need a cache plugin. The servers offer us that.

If you are hosting that site on another server, then the cache plugin I highly recommend is: simply because you can set the expiry.

Hope this helps you.

All my websites are with WA but I still need to set a far out date for at least two for Google and six for Yahoo. I will access the htaccess file via FTP as you suggested. Its just to get the page speed faster.

I have attached one of the reports off GT. You will notice I have an F score of 33 BUT when I clicked on the green arrow it says the average score for this is 26. So most people must have this problem. It is a very interesting program and offers a lot of insight.

Anyways, thanks once again, Trish.

Personally Brad, I would never use that option simply because 85% of the time the website speed is super fast.

DO make sure to keep a copy of your original htaccess file in case you need to replace it.

Most definitely.

But it is good because I am learning about code and getting really involved now. It is taking me deeper and deeper into SPACE - Cyberspace. hehe. Sometimes it is like Earth to Brad, Earth to Brad, come in Brad, are you there Brad, over? LOL

But... but.... you're wasting valuable time you could be learning to create winning content that brings the traffic we all so long for, to your website.

You would have loved the internet back in the early 90s when all we had to work with was HTML. I remember when the group I chatted with back then, got all excited because there was a new thing introduced to help us keep the text away from the edges of the monitor... it was called tables. LOL!

Then there was the first moving graphic... LOL... and on and on.

However, don't lose your focus on why you're doing affiliate marketing. ;-))

I will be writing a blog today on my first 12 months at WA and will provide my website details. It took a while and one of the hardest things was working out the shipping rates in Woocommerce, PLUS, initially, getting the right theme. I will be writing intensely from now on in and promoting WA in the near future.

This is my website that I finally completed, well enough to pump out for starters and work on more blogs as I go along.
https://opalsnjewels.com

WA has changed my life because I am now a lapidarist and I cut, grind, shape, sand, and polish opal and other gemstones. I have passed a diamond theory course and studied diamonds and I am now learning silversmithing. Before December last year, I couldn't even spell lapidary haha!!

That sounds soooo kool!

Is the dust from polishing gems an issue, or do you use a mask?

So... you can cut diamonds now.... WOW!

No, we do not have the equipment YET for cutting diamonds. We do have 2 faceting units but I have not yet learned to facet. In a few months, I will learn this. It is very time consuming like ALL handmade jewelry. A lot of jewelry now is not handmade, simply casts to be rapidly produced for jewelers.
Even making a handmade basic silver ring is very time-consuming.
And cutting gemstone from rough to finish can take 6 hours or more (to get it spot on) depending on the hardness of the stone. Some can take 3-4 hours some can take 5-6. The people that try to rush do not have success. They waste their time and get very disappointed with the end result - a dull and lifeless rock.

With the dust, we use water on the grinders. Silica from opal can be dangerous but the water stops it from dispersing the spheres so I do not use a mask for opal. BUT gemstones you MUST wear a mask while cutting, grinding, and sanding, even with water, are Lapus Lazuli, Turquoise, Malachite, and Tiger's Eye. If the dust from those gets into your lungs it is basically, "goodnight Irene"

I have included a photo of chrysoprase I finished from rough rock to a finished gem. Now, this took me more than 5 hours. If you see jewelry that is cheap, it is NOT handmade and most likely fake. I see many of these cheap third-party marketing sites like Etsy and Ali Express and really question the quality of some of the cheap online stores promoting their products through these sites. It's very hard to buy a geniune South Sea Pearl necklace for $7.99 with free shipping and I saw that on Etsy. But there are probably some good products advertised through Etsy but not at the ridiculous prices I have seen. SOOOO MANY FAKES on the internet. Fake Ethiopian Opal with resins inside trying to sell as Black Opal...... the list goes on.

Wow, I never would have even guessed that the dust from those gems would be deadly... YIKES!

Makes me appreciate lapidarists (had to copy & paste your word) even MORE now.

Ooooh wow.. that chrysoprase is definitely BREATHTAKING!

LOL, yeaaah... a REAL pearl necklace is juuuuust a tad higher thank $7.99, of THAT I am sure... and free shipping indeed... LOL!

I hear ya' regarding fake gems. When I kept sending a jeweler back into his vault, when looking for a certain emerald... yeaaaah, the darker, I learned, the more expensive. Leave it to me to want the darkest... LOL!

You have the perfect opportunity to write many posts showing your readers... educating them, on REAL gems as opposed to fakes.

Your career is certainly an interesting one Brad, I must say!

Thanks, Trish and it is all thanks to Wealthy Affiliate. I had a passion for gemstones when I was 10 but played football instead and forgot about it until I joined WA. When asked about a niche, for some reason, gemstones was the first thing that popped up in my head. So I pursued my niche and 8 months later I began my venture into lapidary.

I am sure that if I did not join WA I would never have become a lapidarist and pursued what I wanted to do when I was a kid when we had no TV, no games, no phones, and just a football and frogs to play with down in the creek. LOL

LOL... yup... frogs and tadpoles... LOL! How well I remember. Guess I was more of a tomboy, huh. LOL!

LOL, huh those days. Like yesterday, when all my troubles seemed so far away, BUT I hope to God they are not here to stay. LOL!

Yupper... and I thank God I am the age that I am. Yeaaaaaaah! :-)) Can you imagine being 10 years old now... NOOOO THANK YOU!

Totally agree. It is a far distant and different world to what we grew up in.

Interesting question - I will be following this thread to find out more. That does not make sense either, especially if you have never searched this keyword before! I saw what Marion answered, still leaves a question mark to me.

Yes, I am still confused about it?

Thanks, Orion and a BIG cheers,

It's the post or page that's ranked, not the website. Where any article is ranked depends on who is looking for it. If you don't use an incognito window then Google remembers which websites you've visited before and "thinks" you want to visit the same websites again.

Thanks, Marion,

I had never visited this website before or used these keywords previously.

I just typed in Sydney Roofers or Roofers in Sydney. I forgot which KW I used.

And the dot com dot au sites appear at the top of the list because you're in Australia
