My 12 Month Journey Into Space - Cyberspace
Lift off From When it ALL Began
My journey into cyberspace began in April 2018 when I met a group of fantastic individuals who helped and guided me through the numerous black holes that I encountered while I was travelling through the bytes of the universe.
My travel back to Earth will be brief because my spaceship's hard drive cannot lay idle for more than a 12 hours so I will make this short and sweet.
Thank You Ground Control
To all the people in WA who have been in that control room for me, and are now my friends, I thank you so much and I value your friendship more than my spaceship's CPU.
My Achievements
Before I left Earth, I thought I knew a little bit about computers, and perhaps I did, BUT, I will have to honestly say that NOW, through WA and you great people, I would have to know at least 500% more than I previously did before joining WA. AND, in saying that, I reckon' 500% is a big understatement to what I have actually learned!!!
Space has also brought back a passion that I had when I was kid but never pursued, Black Opal and Gemology in general. AND if it wasn't for WA, I would not be doing what I am doing now.
WA has put the fire in my belly to pursue that long lost passion and now I am a lapidarist and this is what I am now doing:
- Cut Gemstones from rough including Black Opal
- Grind, Shape, Sand, and Polish Gemstones
- Make Fashion Jewelry
- Making Silver Jewelry - Silversmithing
- Study Gemstones, including semi precious and the four precious stones.
- Soon to learn Faceting
Me on a 220 Sander
A rough piece of Chrysoprase

TOTAL TIME - 5 HOURS 30 MINUTES
The Website
Joining WA has opened up the doors for me. I am doing things now I thought I would never be doing and building the website is another. AND I am sure, that you will all agree, being a member of WA and travelling through Cyberspace is great stimulation and exercise for the brain. The website I built is:

While I was Floating Through Cyberspace
At times, when my mind was floating out there and thinking of ideas, I may have overseen some of my fellow members FB and other social links for following. If you could leave me your social links that will be great. I can then follow you on social media.

Thanks, Jerry,
I am currently about one-tenth into my description list of gemstones in all 7 crystal systems. It will take months.
One thing that really surprises me about gemology is specific gravity. How two different minerals can have the same dry weight but be totally different in specific gravity - 200 mg of Borax will weigh approximately 118g in water, 200mg of Corundum will weigh 50 mg in water, 200 mg of gold will weigh 10mg in water. A HUGE difference, but hey that's Mother Nature.
Ha Ha,
No, Mike, I wanted to be a bit different. Labs are a dime a dozen out here in Australia and a major problem. Every time I hear of a house burning in Sydney suburbia, I think it could be a lab.
But one thing is for sure 100%, if it wasn't for WA I wouldn't be doing this.
Nice set up .I wish my sculpture studio could be so orderly but then I might not be creative. Can you put dollars to hours ? I am curious about the links in the post. I might be just a scady cat.love to see at artist at work
I try to be professional but it is not easy nut I use the principle win some loose some. You must be above minimum wage at all times.
Most definitely so it is best to cut more expensive stone than stones that are less expensive on the market, OR, set them in silver and try and get back some money for the hours you have to put in.

How Awesome!
A lapidary (lapidarist, Latin: lapidarius) is an artist or artisan who forms stone, minerals, or gemstones into decorative items such as cabochons, engraved gems (including cameos), and faceted designs. The word lapidary is also used to describe the methods used and the products of the lapidary's work.[1][2] The primary techniques employed are cutting, grinding, and polishing.[2][3] Hardstone carving is the term used to describe other specialized carving techniques and the objects produced by those techniques.[3] -Source Wikipedia.
