What Did The Snake Teach Me About Marketing
The house that we live in was built in the 1830s and because of that there are a lot of big trees in our yard.
Under one of them my wife made a beautiful sitting area.
Even during a hot day because we are on top of a hill there is almost always a cool breeze blowing. So it is a wonderful place to sit in the heat of the day.
So the first part of the lesson is that my wife was sitting under the tree visiting with some guest one afternoon. Everyone was relaxed enjoying the cool breezes.
Up in the tree one of our resident snakes (there are 4 of them we know of but they are not poisonous) decided he would raid a bird nest. Momma Bird and Papa Bird did not agree with the snake’s choice.
You could hear the birds fussing and hollering at the snake.
Just about the time several people looked up the snake decided the quickest way to get away from the birds was to drop out of the tree or the birds knocked it out of the tree.
All of sudden with a plop the snake landed in the middle of the circle.
There was the brief instant of a look of panic on people's faces then someone said snake. That was like the starting gun at a race. The people vacated the circle very quickly. I know some of them have not moved that fast in years. Two even forgot that they needed canes to walk.
From 8 people sitting there only two were left. Our 2-year-old granddaughter, my wife and the snake. The snake looked around like where did everyone go. Then the snake calmly crawled off to another tree
The people outside the circle were still doing the “Oh a Snake a Snake Dance.”
My granddaughter was saying look Granny a pretty snake while her mom was 15 feet away doing the I am about to pee I so afraid snake dance.
It was not long before goodbyes were said and people were in their cars and headed down the driveway.
So what did this teach me about Internet Marketing. It taught me two things.
Just because you fall out of the tree doesn’t mean you quit.
Just because it doesn’t work in one tree we do not say this doesn’t work and quit, we go find another tree.
The other thing I learned is that a video camera is never running when you need it and that you are always in the house when the best stuff happens. I walked out while people were finishing their snake dance.
That was part 1 of my lesson’s with the Snake and tomorrow I will continue the journey with what the cats and snakes taught me.

P.S. I am going to see if I can get the snake to fall out of the tree on cue for when unwanted visitors are here!
