When you look at advertisements on the Internet you have to watch out for the Gotcha’s.

They are all over the place.

For instance, I got an email today that said

Although I am still trying to figure out how you get singed up. (Where the arrow is)

So, I followed the link as I believe in constant training to improve what we are doing.

When I got to the link it said.

Yes, there is the Gotcha Monster at work.

Anyone fallen victim to the Gotcha Monster before?

It pays to read what is written there.

In the beginning, I think I was the Gotcha's main source of food. I have been had more than once early on. Now it has got harder to get me but they have got sneaker.

Watch out for the Gotcha’s they are out there.

I certainly have been victimized by this monster previously, but never again

he is sneaky but if we are careful we can spot him. It is good that we don't have to worry about gotcha monsters here at Wealthy Affiliate

Oh my goodness! That's terrible!!

Make sure you warn people about this - that is just low!

Yes it is but it happens all the time. I saw one the other day that was giving away a free book if you paid the shipping. When you paid the shipping down at the very bottom in small print it said you was agreeing to pay $49 a month for a coaching program. It was a lot harder to see then this one.

You would be surprised at the number of gotchas.

That would be such a hassle. You'd have to call your financial institution or otherwise. I know because it happened to me, now that I think about it.

I remember signing up for a "free game," than unknowingly after three months, I looked at my credit card statement and realized I was being charged a small amount, but still, not good, and a huge hassle because they were legally not able to give me a refund, as I had agreed to the fine print.

Well, I learned very quickly, and thanks for the reminder.

$49.00 a month for coaching, that adds up quickly, especially if you don't catch it in time.

Thanks, botipton and another fine post.

Becky

Yes, I have been Gotcha food in the past. So happy to have stumbled (!) on Wealthy Affiliate! :)

Yes it nice to know there is no gotcha's here. Kyle and Carson keep them kicked out. He probably has a Gotcha patrol in the office to make sure they do not sneak in.

Ha Ha! I like it! :))

Yes it works here and there mostly praying on nieve n newbees
It's an old loser sales man's trick throw enough poop against the wall and some it's going to stick, sad but true.

Sooner or later someone bites the hook.

Yes I have learned to look the entire page over to find these!

Yes that is a good thing to do because they are good at hiding

Rite on! I'm almost "system - free" thanx to God and WA. I'm had my share of run ins with this monster! Thank u very much for sharing this with us.

You are welcome and they disguise themselves in shinny objects that look great so you do not recognize them.

Oh yes! I have been bitten! I have learned the first thing I look for is where is the small/fine print that tells me this is a "trial period' or where is the "Gotcha" monster hiding!

Thanks for warning folks!

Yep amazing how they can hide in that small print.

It happens, but not within the Wealthy Affiliate opportunity and if so, we would not be here, or at least I would not be.

Yes, it's happened to me as well, but thank God I was able to get my money refunded. It was for something else, but definitely I'm always watching out for the gotcha green monster guys.

Mind you, mine was a good thing, but they just kept asking for more money. This will cost you $79.00 but we offer this course for this other amount at $250.00 Alright, next!

Thanks botipton,

Becky

You are right with Wealthy Affiliate there are no surprises. It is also good to hear from you.

Likewise, my friend. Becky :)

Having been through a copywriting course Bo. I've learned to be familiar with these tricks!

Yep that and having seen them for the last 19 years I learned to spot them a long way away. LOL

I see them a lot. There's many "free" or "only $1" offers out there just to get your credit card info. It always baffles me that if it's free why should I give you my credit card! I wonder what kind of success this type of marketing has. It has to work at least some of the time or there wouldn't be so much of it.

The sad thing it does work and it being taught. One of the gurus teaches that most of the time you will get at least one or two months of payments before they cancel so he says it is worth doing. In my book that is stealing.

I agree that it is dishonest. We all have to decide for ourselves what's more important, the quick almighty buck or following our moral compass. The guru you mentioned may not see anything wrong with this tactic. People will start to catch on to this and become better educated for it.
