No Website for over half of all US Businesses

I just saw a promotion running on facebook for hostgator web hosting. They claimed that 55% of US Businesses do not have a website. That is one incredible stat and should be pretty exciting for a lot of people here at Wealthy Affiliate that have learned how to build websites using the tools and training here at WA.

With our website builder, we can knock out a pretty decent website for any business. Some businesses may think that they do not need a website. I am sure they exist, but very few businesses have too much work that they can't handle more if they can justify the cost of acquisition.

If they rely on marketing or advertising in any way, it should be pretty easy to convince a business that you can help them with a website and Internet Marketing.

Wow! I had no idea there were that many without websites! Thank you for the information Bo!

Surprised me too.. Funny I just remembered a time back in 1999 when I was selling advertising and websites to homebuilders. I ran across a builder that was building quite a few homes...over 200 per year.. their only access to the web was 1 computer in the back of the office that had a dial up aol software account. and they couldn't remember what their email address was.. had to login to figure it out.

Open a document or spreadsheet and make a list of everyone that you spent money with... check them out on the webs and see if they are a target for a new website. There are people here doing very well with their local website business.

Seize a good opportunity when you see one.
You're right, this can be applied easily for local businesses. If you are ready for that (site, business card, etc..) you can introduce yourself to businesses and directly offer them website and even social media services. At my last work, a few people (small marketing businesses) did just that. By email also. Good business hunting! :)

Look for Local Businesses; Restaurants, Professional Services, Gift Shops, HomeBuilders, Subcontractors... Big Box and Chains do not typically need a website and even if they do, finding the person to make the decision can be tough. There is a lot of targets out there.

Exactly, those are the businesses that don't have the resources. Luckily, there are a lot of small businesses in my surroundings and I know for a fact most of them don't have an online presence. Easy to check just by doing a search online with their business name. When I'll be ready for this step of my business, I know where to knock! :)

Exactly - There are so many people abroad that are making money providing IM services for US companies.

I'm not a company that builds websites. I'm a simple guy from Europe with website building basics. I think I don't really stand a chance for building a website for US company. I don't even have that intention.
