As someone who has lived through a major hurricane let me first say...

To all WA members that live in the area of the Carolinas, if you live near the coast be smart and leave. If you live inland like my sister does in Asheville, do not underestimate the damage you too will get.

I live far enough inland in New Jersey to not have to worry about flooding from storm surge. However after superstorm Sandy, there was some flooding from the rain, a lot of trees down, exploded electrical transformers, and the entire area had no power for 13 days. Some were longer.

SO PLEASE BE SMART!

Be safe beautiful South & North Carolinas, Virginia and Maryland!

Blessings!

Agreed. I think parts of Georgia may also get hit.

Very wise words and advice, Robert.

I hope the worst won't be as bad as expected.

I hope so too James. And I hope those people who elected not to evacuate will still be alive when all of the dangerous weather is over with.

I hope so too. I think it's daft not to evacuate knowing the potential hazards involved...but you can't force people to do what they are not happy with.

No, you cannot force people to do what they do not want to do.

When superstorm Sandy hit here in New Jersey, I was prepared to evacuate. And if I didn't have to, which I didn't, I was prepared to last without electricity and heat for weeks.

Sandy was a Category One hurricane when it made landfall, this current one, Florence, is supposed to be a Category Two. If it were me, I would leave, even if it were not mandatory.

I'm glad you didn't need to evacuate your home. Did you invest in a generator, and gallons of fuel, for your electricity, Robert?

Luckily for us here, we don't get hurricanes, but I've seen the destruction they can leave behind...and it's quite hair-raising, with people paying the ultimate price as a result.

Over the years I have invested in solar power so I still had some power when the electrical grid went down. And I was still able to cook because I have a gas stove.

That's wonderful :)

Yes, everyone please keep safe

Agreed!

Hallo Robert
That was a quick out of the Box Post Be safe one side and be Financially safe in any environment Use WA WELL SAID
Regards
David

Thank you David. Out of the box thinking is what I like to do when appropriate.

Very good advice and echoed by all here I am sure.

Thank you Dave.

Great post...as I am proof of the employer deciding whether I am able to make money for the next three days with my hourly job. I am in South Carolina and my employer has decided to suspend operations starting Thursday afternoon at 3 pm until Monday morning at 7 am. So, if I am to get paid for Friday I must use a vacation day and possibly Monday also because my shift starts Sunday night at 11 pm. You are absolutely correct in your assessment...my WA business, once it starts earning will always continue earning and won’t matter what storms will hit me here in SC. :-)

It is a great feeling to know that we can make money at any time on our websites. Both Mother Nature and even our own family obligations cannot stop the money making potential of a up and running website. - Stay safe down in SC.

Thanks, doing my best. We may not be hit too hard with Florence...probably more rain than anything else.

Please remember that the majority of life threatening emergencies that are connected with a hurricane has to do with the water and not the wind.

Agreed... however, I don’t live in a flood zone... so it’ll be just rain for me.

That is good for you. I don't live in a flood zone either and when Sandy hit here, flooding was minor. Only areas prone to flooding did so just from the rain fall.

That’s a good thing!

Stay safe to anyone involved in the hurricane situation.

My prayers with us all.

Wayne

Thanks Wayne.

Thanks Robert. Stay safe everyone

You are welcome Glenys.

Great lesson Robert, this is the best weather-proof business to be IN!!
Everyone be wise, and be SAFE.

Thank you Kaju. The internet is always on which makes our businesses always on.

While visiting my daughter in SC, we visited the Asheville Salt Cave--an incredible experience. What a great little town! Smart post, Rob. Love how you connected it with WA!

Erin :)!

Thanks Erin. I have never been to the cave. Every time I go to visit my sister I go and experience the Biltmore Estate. So much to do and see there.

If you like beer and wine, they have a great brewery and a winery, which you can drink and buy there. Lots of great restaurants and outdoor activities too.
