Rome Wasn't Built in a Day - Neither is Your Business
If you desire it to be, one day in the future you too could have a highly profitable online business. It will not happen right away. It may not happen for many years. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither were the following companies that all started in a garage.
WHERE THESE GIANTS STARTED
It always starts with a dream to be financially successful and then the setting of goals to achieve along the way. There are a few online entrepreneurs that I admire for what they have accomplished. Other than Kyle and Carson I also admire Jeff Bezos of Amazon.
When Wealthy Affiliate started it was far different than what it is now. It has dramatically changed from its beginnings and continues to grow and evolve. The same holds true for the following companies and it will be for yours as well.
- AMAZON - Jeff Bezos started his company as a very small online book store in 1994 from his home garage in Belleview, WA USA. It took him until 1995 to sell his first book. - So don't get discouraged if you do not make any money in your first year.
- APPLE - Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniac hand-built 50 Apple I computers within 30 days in a Cupertino, CA USA garage in 1976. They sold their computer invention to a local retailer for $500.00 USD a piece.
- DISNEY - Walt Disney, along with his brother Roy, moved into the Los Angeles, CA USA house of their uncle in 1923. In the back of the house was a small one-car garage where they set up "The First Disney Studio" for the filming of the Alice Comedies.
- GOOGLE - Larry Page and Sergey Brin, graduate students at Stanford University, started what we now know as Google in the Menlo Park, CA USA garage of Susan Wojcicki in 1998. Susan became one of Google's first employees in 1999 as the marketing manager and is now the CEO of YouTube.
- HARLEY DAVIDSON - William Harley and Arthur Davidson built their first small engine-powered bicycle in a friend's Milwaukee, WI USA 10-foot by 15-foot wooden shed in 1903. No one had garages then because mass-produced cars were not yet available.
IT TAKES IS A DREAM & DETERMINATION
These five giant companies all started with one or two people having a dream of starting their own business. They didn't look at other huge companies of that time and say, I could never create something as big and profitable as that. No, they took their dreams and made it happen.
Amazon is now the world's largest online retailer. Apple is now the world's most valuable technology company. Disney is now the world's highest-grossing media empire. Google is now the world's most trafficked website. Harley Davidson is now the world's most well-known motorcycle.
This is what any of us can do! Because of the inexpensive training, resources and support we as members of Wealthy Affiliate have, we all can achieve greatness in our own online businesses. All it takes is a dream and the determination to stay the course.

I also add Jack Ma to the group you admire. He is the co-founder of Alibaba. Ma launched his business from an apartment in China, likely similar to Bezos launching Amazon from a garage.
While Mr. Bezos was 5 years into the initial building of Amazon, that didn't deter Mr. Ma from his venture and vision.
I think that is the core lesson to learn from the success of Amazon and Alibaba.....there is always room at the top for one more.
Exactly! This is another example of why none of us should turn down a potentially profitable niche just because it has been done many times already.

You are welcome Norman. You are correct in saying that, if you love something fight for it. Everyone of these successful business owners ran into roadblocks and set backs. But they kept fighting to grow their businesses and now look at how successful they are.
I've been at this for a year now and know that it takes time to become profitable. I still work at knowing that the effort is not going to waste, I'm learning something new with each experience.
It is definitely a long process but hard work pays off. Like I mentioned above, CEO Jeff Bezos didn't sell his first book until after 1 year of starting Amazon. Now look where he is.

Although each of these successful entrepreneurs no doubt, had rolling around somewhere in the back of their minds to make money, I don't think making money was their primary motivation.
This is the message many people don't get but an important point you have illustrated above. Like any building, wealth is built and it requires a plan, time and effort.
Do what you are driven to do and the money will follow.
Agreed. When you have a dream to be your own boss, having an action plan to help people with your vision will lead to sales.
