I Was 50 Years Old When I Joined WA - Now I Am 63

YES!! Today October 25th, 2025 is my 63rd Birthday! I have spent the last 12 years and 2 months as a very happy member of Wealthy Affiliate. I have learned much, gained much and have earned much. This will be a visual post, looking back at how I have gracefully aged in this time as a WA member.

MY INITIAL PROFILE IMAGE & MY USER NAME

If you have been a member of WA since at least 2017, you probably remember that profile image above, peeking over my sunglasses. WOW! Not a single gray hair on that head. I was 50 years old in that picture. I had just retired from the video game industry as a producer and still liked dressing in a nice shirt and tie.

When I am not getting dressed up I am almost always wearing a T-shirt and shorts, unless it is in the fall and winter when I wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants. I like to be totally comfortable when I'm at home and I always walk around my home in socks. Everyone who comes to visit me, must take off their shoes. Below, I was 52.

HERE IS THE BACK STORY ON MY PROFILE NAME THAT I NEVER REVEALED BEFORE

My profile name is boomergp08. Why did I pick that name? I am a HUGE fan of the most recent production of the TV Series Battlestar Galactica, which aired on the NBC Universal Sci-Fi Channel. It started as a 3-hour mini series in December 2004 and ran for 4 seasons before ending in March 2009.

For those that don't know, Battlestar Galactica (BSG) was an American military science fiction TV series set out in outer space in a far off distant star system. The series itself was filmed and produced in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was based on the original series from 1978 but with a unique story line.

One of the main characters, a Raptor Pilot, was Lt. Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii. That is where the "boomer" part of my profile name comes from. She was played by an American-Canadian actress by the name of Grace Park. This is where the "gp" comes from and the "08" was the last full year of the series. Hence, boomergp08.

I had many favorite characters in that TV series, mainly because of their backstories and how they brought out the different plot twists. Not only is Grace Park pretty, but how she portrayed her role which had many different facets, was a great work of acting. Her whole story arc was well written and performed.

TIME MOVES ON AND WE ALL GET OLDER

In my original Profile Picture above, I was not yet wearing reading glasses. I found this to be an amazing feat, seeing how I was always looking at computer and video screens while in my 25 years of developing video games. I guess what saved my eyes was mainly working within "Dark Mode" which some like Carson work within.

Or maybe I was just a late bloomer when it came to eye fatigue. In the above image it was about 2018, my fifth year here at WA, and I was just starting to wear reading glasses. Even to this day, I wear readers for viewing my phone and Chromebook screens. I don't need them for watching TV or driving or getting around.

We can never stop the aging process but we can slow it down by keeping better care of ourselves. For the majority of my life, starting back when I was in my mid 20's, I stopped going to traditional Western Allopathic Medicine and embraced a more Holistic form of medicine. If you want to succeed in something, no matter what it is, you must jump in and learn about the process and take action. Do Not Hesitate!

I know Kyle wants me and others here who promote WA to make it to Las Vegas and be part of the WA Super Affiliate Conference. Las Vegas is my favorite U.S. city, even though I live only 7 miles from New York City. I have been to Las Vegas more than a dozen times. Hopefully when I go back it will not be 30 degrees like above.

Growing older with Wealthy Affiliate has always been and always will be a great thing. This community is like its own social media platform, minus all the negative drama. It is the only place where you can share ideas, learn from others, build a website business, gain useful knowledge, earn income and grow old gracefully together.
