How to Find a Niche Market - Just Look at a Magazine Rack

I am someone who likes the outdoors. I go hiking on many of the local trails in the Appalachian mountains in the New Jersey and New York area. Some of these trails like the Cannonball Trail date all the way back to the American Revolutionary War time period.

In saying that I subscribe to the magazine Outdoor Life, which focus on many of the various niche markets within the broad niche of Outdoor Life. While looking through a recent magazine and coming up with some content ideas for my WA promotional website, I realized that a magazine is a great way to find niches.

HOW TO FIND A NICHE MARKET

If you are having a problem finding a niche, and I firmly believe most have problems because they still do not know what a niche is, just go to a store that sells magazines. The majority of magazines represent niche markets. What do magazines represent? They feature topics that you partake in and/or that you enjoy. These topics are all niches.

All of us are involved with at least 3 niches everyday. We all wear shoes, pants or bottoms, and shirts or tops. These three pieces of clothing are all niches. So when you look at a magazine rack, what do you see? You see magazines about the automobile niche, the fishing niche, the cosmetics niche, the travel niche, the Do It Yourself niche, the gardening niche, and on and on.

WHAT I FOUND READING MY MAGAZINE

In reading my latest Outdoor Life magazine I came across an article on the top 10 best fishing kayaks for those who like to fish on lakes and rivers. I said, I am going to write my next website blog about how to make money in the fishing kayaks niche. I then went to Google and did a search for Fishing Kayak Affiliate Programs. I found a great program from a website called Outdoorplay.

Being that fishing kayaks cost in the high hundreds and even over a thousand dollars, with an 18% commission, one could make some good money in this focused sub niche of fishing. But while on the Outdoorplay website I saw a niche market I personally enjoy, Camping and Hiking. As is seen in the above picture there are 37 sub niches to the camping and hiking niches

Just from doing a simple 10 minute search from reading an article in a magazine and then searching Google for an affiliate program on fishing kayaks, I found 37 sub niche ideas in another outdoor niche. So if you are having trouble finding a niche, go to the store and buy a magazine that appeals to you.

Then starting looking through the magazine and when you find a topic that interests you, go to Google and type in the name of that interest followed by the words Affiliate Program. Then click on the results of your search and look at the items sold by those websites. You have now found some great niche ideas within your niche interest.

Finding a niche is not hard at all. You are involved with many different niches everyday. The reason many have problems finding a niche is that they do not realize exactly what a niche is or they try to find a niche based on profitability or both. Just go and buy a magazine in a niche you enjoy and see what you can find. It's not hard at all.
