Fake News: Just Because You Don't Agree Doesn't Make It So
Lately the buzz in the media is about Fake News but this is not something new. We have always been surrounded by appearances of fake news and this has been seen quite often within the make money from home niche. This is a sad truth that hurts the legitimate opportunities like Wealthy Affiliate.
WHAT, YOU THOUGHT THIS WAS A POLITICAL POST?
If you do not know by now, all political and religious posts are taboo here within WA. And if any of you should post a politically scented comment, I will delete it, so don’t try it. Okay Robert, then why did you use the words Fake News? Because it is a very popular keyword right now and it is relevant to my post. It made you click on my post, didn’t it?
My message has to do with the fake news that anyone can make a lot of money online from home quickly or with relative ease. There are so many get rich quick offers and gurus out there that many who want to get into this niche believe that they can achieve this without any kind of hard work and patience.
Then once they are in and do not see results within the first few months they cry foul. When these people start asking, is anyone making money doing this, and some say yes and explain how, these people do not believe the truth about the process and claim WA is a fake or just another scam.
THOSE WHO MAKE MONEY ONLINE WORK HARD FOR IT
I have never been one to post success blogs here at WA about how much I make because I just don’t see the point. We ALL are going to achieve financial success at various levels and at various times IF we follow all of the training and apply what we learn. This is the only way it will happen.
While in chat during the past couple of days I came across a couple of WA members, one newbie and one who has been here for a couple of months, asking if I make money doing affiliate marketing. Then they wanted to know if I did, how long did it take me?
Most times I will refer them to blogs written by others ( Alex, Nathaniell,…) on this subject. But on occasion when these members hear the truth, don’t believe it, and think it is fake, I will chime in and give them the following answer.
I have been at WA since August 2013. By October 2013 I finished the Certification Course and I even went back and re-did some lessons. I immediately started the Bootcamp Course and in December 2013 I made my first sale. I kept learning and working every day for at least 4 to 6 hours. Now I make much more than my yearly WA membership fee every month.
Then I explain to them that what I make each month, how long it took me to make good money, and what I did to achieve it, is unique to me because everyone will have a different approach and work effort. For example, in addition to WA, I make money with 4 other affiliate programs. I also make money offering my services with the knowledge gained from the WA training.
THE REAL FAKE NEWS IS HOLDING PEOPLE BACK
It is because of this BS belief that making money online from home is quick and easy that is preventing people from joining WA or even quitting before they even give it a fair amount of time with hard work. If Jeff Bezos gave up after 2 years into building Amazon because he wasn’t making a profit, he wouldn’t be a billionaire now.
Stop asking dumb questions like, is anyone here making money doing this? Of course there are but we do not approach the financial success mark with a time frame in mind. We also follow the training and work hard to make the kind of financial success we want.
We all take different paths but there are five things we all do the same way. We all became members of Wealthy Affiliate, followed each step of the training, asked questions when we had them, had the patience to see it through, and did not quit. Don’t believe the fake news of the gurus, believe the facts of those who are succeeding.

A wonderfully written blog Robert. This is great reading for newbies at whichever level. There is nothing that irritates me more than being asked by someone I have just welcomed, 'how much money are your making'. I do not respond to those questions. I was earning online before I joined WA, but I needed WA to progress further. (Having just written that, perhaps that should be my answer, rather than ignoring them.)!

I see you and I share the same experiences Valerie. I too was making money online before WA, but came here to better my future online plans.
I already knew that it requires a solid effort to see results and the WA training helps greatly to make the process a bit smoother. The problem is that many people think that making money online is instant when it is clearly not.
Yes but when many of these get rich quick making money online from home gurus constantly preach their scam products, they are creating fake news about how it is really done.
Then when people buy into this garbage and believe it to be true, once they find out that it requires lots of hard work and time to see results, they give up.
I think that some people look at this as something to try, as opposed to thinking of it as a business which requires some effort to make it work. They get caught up in the fact that it's online, so the money should come instantly. But if you don't have customers, how can your business be a success? The crazy thing about this is that even if you make $0.02 at first, that gets you excited and it confirms that this thing really does work.
Added to that, you learn so much at WA, that you can do so many other things and make money; the same way you do. But you know, regardless of how good the opportunity might be, some people just can't see the potential and they just aren't willing to put in the effort to make their financial dreams a reality.
You are spot on accurate. Many people come here and treat it like a test drive instead of making the decision to start their own online business. This takes both future planning and a desire to see it to its completion no matter how long it takes.
