How would you feel if you were to update a plugin or theme and then you lost all of your website content? I bet you would feel like crap, finding out months of your hard work is all gone because you decided to update or install a plugin or theme. If this should happen to you, are you prepared?

DO YOU BACKUP WEEKLY?

Even though WA backs up all of our websites on a daily basis it is still important that we take it upon ourselves to backup our website content. Now there are two ways you can do this, with a new plugin or without a plugin. If you are like me and try to keep your plugins as few as possible, what I am about share might be right for you.

TO USE A PLUGIN OR NOT

If your website has a small number, like 4, plugins or you do not mind adding another, a really good and robust backup plugin I use on a couple of my websites is BackWPup. However if you do not want to add another plugin and slow your website performance some more, I suggest doing the following.

WORDPRESS TOOLS EXPORT

There is a very simple function in your WordPress dashboard that will allow you to backup your entire website content, text, pictures, video and comments, all within a few seconds at the click of a button. To learn the easy step by step process check out the first page of my training below.

How To Backup Your WordPress Website Using Tools Export

If you would like to learn the process of reinstating your content should that rare occurrence happen where you do lose everything, check out the link below to Kyle's training. Regardless of which way you backup your website, make sure you do so once per week or at least right before you update or add a new plugin or theme.

Cheers Gina

It was my pleasure sharing this with you Gina. I hope it helps prevent any possible problems down the road.

Good suggestions

Thank you.

I installed BackWPup from he go get Robert!

Awesome Michael!

I use FTP to make regularly backups.

That's good.

Thanks for the reminder. I really need to be doing this once a week not once a month like I usually do.

You are welcome Darlene. It can be quite easy to get distracted and forget.

I use Tools > Export and WP Clone. Tools > Export only backs up the words and the links to the media items not the media items themselves.

I also use FTP once a month.

Your website is a major asset so you can't be too careful.

I agree Marion. You can never be too careful when it comes to your website.

Thanks for the reminder, Robert:)
Blessings:)

You are welcome Carson.

That is such a good reminder Robert, when we get busy it is so easy to overlook this. Thank you.

Yes, and I was reminded last night as I was going through a long Windows 10 update that it had been more than a week since I backed up all of my websites.
