Adam West Dies - Did You Know Batman is a Niche?

I have been a bit low key online for the past couple of days, basically trying to unplug from internet technology as much as possible. But as I was enjoying a Saturday afternoon cup of covfefe, I am sorry, I mean coffee, I came across a news article that said that Adam West had died.

A CHILDHOOD SUPERHERO

I remember when I was a little boy, one of the first superheroes I was a fan of was Batman. I especially liked the original Batmobile, which I get to see almost every 4th of July in a local parade. I even have a 1:24th scale diecast replica model of it in my display case, see below image.

Batman, as portrayed by Adam West, was my introduction into the world of DC Comics and all of their superhero characters. And just because this was a childhood infatuation does not mean that there are not millions and even billions of adults just like me who still love the superhero.

DID YOU KNOW THAT BATMAN IS A NICHE?

As I so often do, I took the current circumstances and what they represent and asked, is there a niche representing this? Too often many WA newbie members have difficulty coming up with a niche. Could a childhood superhero fantasy become a money making niche? It sure can!

Think back to your childhood and the TV shows that you used to watch every chance you could. I bet the majority of them could be turned into a money making niche. After hearing of the news of Adam West passing away, and after a moment of reflection, I did a Google search for Batman Affiliate Program. I found a bunch of them.

When you think about most forms of entertainment, especially those from popular TV series and movies, they are all different niches that can be tapped into. It is obvious that Batman is a popular and profitable niche market, just look at how many Batman movies there has been.

The products offered that represent Batman are staggering. Action figures, DVD movies, diecast collectible models, jewelry, clothing, costumes, artwork, books, video games, logo graphics, and much more. - And this also holds true for many other superheroes, not just Batman.

Think of the fun it could be to relive a part of your childhood and create an affiliate marketing website in the niche of your favorite superhero, TV show or popular movie series. What was your favorite childhood TV show or superhero? Are you a fan of a popular movie series like Star Wars? Have you searched Google for affiliate programs?

Adam West was interviewed about doing the Batman show and was asked about Julie Newmar. Adam said he didn't want to talk about her stating that when he thinks of her, he gets "curious stirrings in his utility belt". I laughed for an hour.

LOL That is so funny.

Well as a young boy Julie Newmar caused curious stirrings in my utility belt too. :-)

sad to hear the news about a childhood super hero. rip Adam West

Yes, very sad to hear David.

I guess Batman has in the same way niche groupies as the "Trekkies"

Yes he does. There have been just as many Batman movies as there have been Star Trek movies. That is a pretty good indication.

More inspiration - thanks again. There really appears to be nothing to limit anyone, who really wants to find their way here at WA.

All we need to do if one cannot find a niche is to look at what we may have been passionate about growing up, see if it still is popular with many adults, and then see if their are affiliate programs to support them. Most time their will be.

So many opportunities Robert, the folks that are into this are so passionate about the whole deal and most ready to part with their hard earned cash, sort of sidetracking but came across some Trekkies at the airport toady those folks are just so well into it right down to going full-out dressed up for a weekend away.

This is exactly why niches that focus on entertainment outlets that have a huge passionate fan base can be quite profitable.

Take Star Trek for instance. I have several friends that have no problem spending a few hundred dollars to add items to their collections, and they are not alone.

Thank you for this info. I love superheroes but I did not know of the affiliate programs tapping into this phenomenon

You are welcome. There are a lot of affiliate programs having to do with superheroes. All you have to do is type into Google the name of the superhero followed by the words affiliate program, and you will more than likely find a bunch of affiliate programs.

Batman is definitely my favorite super hero. Such a complex character, I could talk about him for far long than I should.

Honestly, I might consider going into a superhero niche after I've gotten my current site bringing in some money. There's a bunch of things that could be done with it as you mentioned and it'd definitely be a very interesting topic.

Yes Juan, the superheroes niche market has a bunch of things one can focus in on to make an affiliate website. I can think of a few of them right now that I would do should I do a website in this niche.

Not long ago I did a blog on my website about how to start an affiliate marketing website in the Star Trek niche. After doing the research and finding that The Star Trek Store has an affiliate program, I knew right then that it would be a future niche I will target.

There are Star Trek fans ALL OVER the world and from all age groups. With the amount of products that The Star Trek Store offers on their website, I know that their are millions of Star Trek fans like myself that wouldn't mind spending a couple of hundred of dollars to buy collectibles.

Excellent post Robert:) It's a very good skill to point some of us in directions we haven't thought of.
Godspeed Adam West. When I think of Batman, I don't think of Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, or Ben Affleck.
Adam West will always be Batman to me.

Entertainment productions and screen icons have long been niche markets to tap into. With a HUGE fan base the world over, anyone with a passion for it can make good money.

I agree Brad. I always think of the original actor/actress when it comes to a long running series of shows and movies.

Batman will always be Adam West to me. Though George Reeves was the original Superman, because he died a few years before I was born, I tend to consider Christopher Reeve as the Superman actor.

I remember when he was introduced in Detective comics Robert!

WOW, that was 78 years ago Michael. Are you saying that you are older, because you don't look like it.

No, I read them in the 50's Robert. I was an avid comic reader then!

OK, that explains it. I was hoping it wasn't because you read them in the 30s or even 40s.

Can you imagine the cost / value of that Detective comics issue that introduced Batman if someone had it in near mint to mint condition? I bet it would be in the thousands of dollars.

That's the problem it has to be mint. BTW reselling comics would make a great niche!

Obviously mint condition would fetch the most money, but under the current circumstances with the passing of West, I bet a near mint condition comic book edition would still bring good money.

And yes, comic book collecting and reselling would make a great niche to get into. There are lots of affiliate programs supporting comic books.

Thanks Robert!

My pleasure Michael.

That would definitely be a great niche! I would have to do one on The Walking Dead! Did you know there are acting schools on how to act like a zombie?

The Walking Dead is another niche market one could target and it doesn't surprise me that there are acting schools for being a zombie. Perhaps there is a niche market for that too. LOL
