How To Get 10,000 Visitors A Month

I decided that my end goal is to make $100,000 a year--no more, no less (well, it could be $99,100 or $100,900 and I would still consider it hitting the target mark). This goal is within the next 5 years, hopefully sooner than 5 years. But even 5 years has a way of coming around sooner than we know it, particularly once we're past the age of 30.

I currently have 1 website but will add 1 more in January 2018. So to make $100,000 gross income annually, I project making $50,000 from each website. I'm guessing one website will probably be more of a moneymaker than the other, however, and I'm guessing the one I'm starting in January will be the one that brings in more money.

To make $50,000 per website, I calculated I need to have 10,000 visitors per month if the conversion rate is 2% and the commission is average of $20. That is, I need 10,000 visitors per month on each website, which totals 20,000 visitors for both websites.

So I typed the keyword into Google "how to get 10000 visitors a month on website" and came across the following: https://sumo.com/stories/first...

Some of you may already have 10,000 visitors a month, but I'm guessing the majority of you aren't at this time.

This is a good thread to discuss what we must do to create a $100K/year income. I think that is a goal of a lot of us. I know it is mine. I'm going to start a blog post "Creating $100K/yr passive income." I hope you will join me with comments on what you intend to do to achieve that goal.

Thank you. Yes, ask and receive. I'd be glad to comment. So where will your blog post be, on WA or on your website?

Excellent article, thanks for sharing!

Thank you. And thanks for commenting!

I haven't read the whole article yet, but the first part got me really curious about the rest so I bookmarked it. I will certainly get back to it sooner than later. Thanks for sharing this very instructive article/post. :)

Certainly. :-)

Excellent article. Thanks

your thinking is faulty---you can do it with just 1 website
all you need to do is multi-purpose the product
As a coach, I could set up a free webinar as an overview for a paid webinar, then offer an e-book, etc

what you need to do is think of ways to upsell from 1 product

I don't have a product, just affiliates. Also, I feel I have a good idea for the 2nd website. I don't want to go overboard, however, and have a lot of websites. I think 2 is enough.

then what products do your affiliates market and how much can you make from each product

I have a number of affiliate products--hypnosis audios, voice training, etc. As I said above, my estimate is $20 average commission.

My second website is on the subject of money. I don't know much about money but I decided recently that that's one of the subjects I want to learn about most. Then I got this idea to make a website on money with a particular angle in mind. I think this website will have more keywords that get attention than my current website.l

Since it's about money why not research and write about financial advisors and how they can help with investing and setting up trust funds

there are also companies that have products that you can market on financial security you can associate with and market

My website is not about money in that way. As I said, I had a particular angle in mind regarding the niche of money. I've jotted down a number of topics/keywords to write about and I plan to start this site in January. I will unveil what my niche more precisely is (give URL to site on WA profile page) once I've published about 5 posts.

Yes, I'm sure there are plenty of good affiliates for this particular niche.

You have it down to a science jean. That's a good first step!

Yes, down to a science, Mike. Thanks!

And I am sure you will reach your goal! Good luck.

Thank you very much.:-)

Wow! So many thanks for this! Great job.

Create consistent quality content and make the user experience the best you can and the other things fall into place. It's great to have a solid goal, but don't just chase numbers. Focus on the best possible experience and as you start to build traffic you can then learn how to get even more.

Well, I'm a natural perfectionist, so I don't think I have to worry about trying for quality content. It's the practical business aspect I need to pay more attention to. No point in having a website if not much visitors and no income from it. But I get your point of view as well.

I can definitely see you're a perfectionist from the specificity of your goals lol :) The main point is consistency with quality content, optimized for SEO, doing as much on and off-page SEO you can, sharing to social media, and making sure your readers have the best user experience possible. Analyzing traffic doesn't bring traffic, only good content and a great user experience is what brings traffic, right :) So don't get bogged down from analytics and you'll be great. But you already know all this. I wouldn't even personally worry about analytics at all until you have 30 or so posts, then you can check where your traffic is coming from.

Overall, I agree with what you said. However, do remember that this goal of 10,000 visitors is a long-term target. I disagree with your minimizing numbers. I think traffic numbers if the key to ensure one is going to hit the income target. To get to those traffic numbers, one has to implement the things you mentioned, esp.on-page and off-page SEO.

Numbers are of course important, but like you said, in the long term. So don't get lost in numbers before you even have traffic, because this is a long term project, right? :) I wouldn't worry about numbers until 30 or so posts in. Too many people start chasing numbers too early and lose track of consistent content creation. That's all I'm warning against :)

Agreed. Focus on things you can control. You cannot control how much money you make, but you can control how much content you produce. What tasks do you have to complete to reach you $100K/yr goal?

But the thing is there's more to it than creating content. There are a lot of websites that have plenty of content and good content, I'm sure, yet don't get much traffic and therefore not much income if at all.

I haven't read the article I linked to in my post above yet (except the first few paragraphs about knowing your audience), but it seems you can have some control over getting traffic, though I agree that's not something to focus on until you have a minimum of traffic. But it's something one can still learn about right now.

You definitely want to do all the things Kyle's trains us on with regards to building traffic around that content. Keyword research, SEO, aesthetics, etc. all are there with the intent to build traffic and they're all important.

They key is understanding that those same things when put together in the right way create a great user experience. When people focus on doing these things just to chase numbers, they usually lose momentum. However, the trick is to implement those same things but with your focus on a quality user experience, and then they work so much better.

Your sites are set for the long term and you have a great goal. Like you said, traffic is of course the whole point of a site. Just attack it from the right direction so that it's easier to continue forward with content and user experience being the focus instead of getting bogged down in numbers :)

You're going to do great :)

Yes, I agree.
Thank you.:-)

Good points to adhere to, Eric...thank you.

Good luck with that! That's a great goal to work toward and I am sure you will achieve it if you stay focused.

As for 10,000 visitor a month, that would be *wonderful*. I don't even have 1,000. I actually have under 200 most months.

I think you are still ahead of me at this point if you have almost 200 visitors.

I just haven't put in enough time at it. But I will make sure to show up regularly from now on.

Yes, focus is key. I'm going to work 4 hours a day 6 days a week from now on. Need to be consistent.

Make sure you work at least half that time close to your money line. Content makes you money, book keeping does not. Completing lessons is important, but it only makes you money when you implement what you learn.
