How Long Does It Take?

How long it takes to write a blog post depends on who you ask.

According to an article I recently read by Jon Morrow, he took about 20 hours to write a blog post for his initial successful website, and he had only 13 posts during the first year the website was up.

(That makes me feel better because I only have 16 pages/posts--NOT including About Me, Privacy Policy, and the like. And my website is exactly 1 year old this month.)

Some other successful bloggers such as Neil Patel, on the other hand, say they create long posts within 2 hours.

So I guess it's "normal" to be slow as well as to be fast. (I'm not sure if Jon Morrow still takes 20 hours to write a single blog post; I'm assuming not.)

The important thing is to be consistent in making progress.

It comes in time. I turned around and did 2 WA posts in 1hr late In the day yesterday!

Yes, the more practice--whether it's doing WA posts or niche website posts--the quicker.

I saw a quote from Neil Patel that said he wrote something like 15,000 words a week. And that's on top of everything else he does.

On the other hand, Brian Dean's blog at Backlinko only has about 30 posts. (But they are really long).

Yes, I heard Brian Dean had few posts yet his website was very successful from the get-go, even at way less than 30 posts, and it's because he writes long "authoritative" posts.

Guess it's different strokes for different posts. :-)

I am definitely getting faster as I get back into practice. If I can stay focused, I can often do a post in about 90 minutes these days. Of course, it also depends on the length and the research that goes into it.

90 minutes is certainly speedy for any post unless it's 500 words or less, which I assume is not the case. Right, the more practice the more flowing.

Flowing writing is the best writing, so speedy is also usually the best writing when it comes to first drafts, which means less editing.
Yes, how much time depends on amount of research mostly, I think.

Yes that is the important thing being consistent in making progress. I remember how long it took to write a post when I first started but the more I wrote the quicker it happened.

Yes, that's usually how it works. Thanks.
