Does Wealthy Affiliate Really Work? - $400 From One Post

Last Update: March 16, 2018

Hi everyone, today I will share with you some amazing results.

While most people here know that Wealthy Affiliate works, some of you still have doubts. I hope my story will motivate you to keep working on your sites.

So, I have made over $400 only from one post. However, it's not a post that I sent traffic and linked it from other articles. I just published and shared it on social media.

The Idea

Until the day I wrote it, I had published 30-40 articles on my site and was looking for new content ideas. These days, I had a hard time to come up with new keywords and topics to write.

Anyway, I was reading some threads on a forum, and someone referred a legit site. I checked and decided to write for it. After some research with Jaaxy, I could not find any product keyword with enough traffic and low competition. Before start looking for something else, I went back to the forum thread for more information and read how these guys talked about that site.

I checked some of their phrases with Jaaxy and here we are. I finally found a good keyword to target.

The best part?

On the first page of Google for this specific keyword, there were only some really bad articles.

The Article

So, I wrote the article, mentioned that site (it has an affiliate program), and at the end of the post, I added a call to action to Wealthy Affiliate as I always do.

On the first position was an article with 300-400 words and no images at all. I wrote a lengthy article as we have learned here in WA.

Until that day, I had less than ten visitors per day. Well, a few hours after publishing it, my article was on the first page! Two weeks later was in the first place.

Traffic and Sales

I get 10 visitors per day on this post. No big deal. I was excited because it was my first article that made the first page of Google.

Some of the traffic, visit my review and other pages of the site but it's not enough to make a difference. At least, this is what I thought until three months earlier.

Three months ago, Paypal sent me an email. $130 had been added to my account and I still get around $100 per month only from that site.

The owner of the site sent me an email. He asked me to send more traffic if possible. It converts really well. The problem is that I do not know if it could convert so good to other keywords too. I wrote a review but it does not get enough traffic.

Anyway, many of the people who used my affiliate links and created an account later have become repetitive buyers, so I expect to keep earning. I have no idea how much more I will earn in the future.

Conclusion

It was a surprise these results and I am going to use this experience to find even more opportunities. Forums can help us to figure out what our audience wants and find many content ideas.

Kyles has mentioned in some training that we can get ideas from Q&A sites. In my opinion, forums can work similarly.

Another way to find low competition opportunities is the Alphabet soup technique, but I guess you already know it.

That's all for now guys. If you liked my story, please click the like button and leave me your comment. Thanks for reading.

Hi Ilias

WOW! Thank you for sharing!

It just goes to show that inspiration for posts can be anywhere we care to look for them! Almost like Kaju (Jetrbby80316) that is starting to see niches wherever he is looking.

I am compiling a list of places to look for blogpost inspiration and will add this to the list! ;-)

Wishing you all of the very best Ilias!

Researching other people's blogs (especially those who are in the top ranking) and find out what keywords they are using is a great strategy! I knew about it but hadn't really practiced it (knowledge doesn't mean anything until you do it!). I better start doing it! :D I know some tools have that feature, and I believe SEMRush is one of them.

Congratulation on your successful blog! I know yours will prosper because I always enjoy your articles.

Wish you the continuous success!

Thank you, Kyoko.

We can find possible low competition keywords in many different places. Also, there are many ways to research for them.

I prefer to find questions and answers on forums, Q&A sites, social media, etc. When I read other blogs for content ideas, usually, I check the questions in the comments.

Then, I check these ideas on Jaaxy. When there are enough searches per month (over 30), I write an article. Even the reviews that I decide to write are ideas from forums.

I just avoid the competitive keywords so Jaaxy is the only tool I use to figure out the less competitive variation of each keyword/product.

Congratulations! It's awesome when you see your hard work suddenly pay off and bear fruit... especially fruit that keeps on coming. :)

Often, once you've written quality content, all it takes is for it to be seen in the right place by the right people. :)

That's true Dena. Many times I get traffic from posts that I did not expect to get ranked on the first page. For this reason, we must do our best on every piece of content we create.

Those fist sales mean a lot to a marketer. I have been rebuilding my business for the past few years since I lost just about everything to a nervous breakdown brought on by 9 years of 100+ hour weeks. I lost physical and mental health in one blast but prior to that, I remember the first 1,000 months I had as being a massive boost to my confidence. My partner and I went on to build a social network and search engine hybrid that reached 3.5 million visits a month from 600,000 plus unique visitors, all based on diverse content.

You are on the right path and if you hit a block you can likely reinvest a few bucks in ghostwriters through a service like iWriter or even Fiverr if you wish to play a bit more dangerous to find a lower price. Another route depending on your traffic is to either allow free or paid guest post. Since you get the approval of all results before posting you can be assured the integrity of your site is maintained.

WOW -- so impressed -- ! How did you do that?!

Leveraging other people's content mixed with our own. A social network is like a giant blog, with hundreds of authors. Think on par with Mashable or SearchEngineLand and you will get the picture. Our community was very author focused so people were writing longer content instead of micro blurbs like Twitter and with more content comes more time on site, users engagement, and thus massive traffic numbers.

What I find funny is the number of bloggers who think singular. Everything is I have to, and it's only me when other blogs need to boost awareness in the niche through guest posting and if your traffic numbers are high enough will even pay a few dollars to get their articles on your site. There is also Ghostwriting such as offering an iWriter Gig for a post on your search term with a length of 2000 words. This is massive content for like $16 to $20 as your blog grows and you need more fresh ideas. Sometimes that extra author will trigger thoughts of sub-niche you never even thought about during a time you think you are running out of content ideas.

You have a lot of experience!

Sure, there are many ways to be more productive and I have already tried guest posting and bought some articles from iWriter, Hirewriter, and Fiverr.

Most of the articles were low quality. However, I would like to find a better way to outsource some tasks in the future.

Kyle says that you know when you are ready and he recommends some sites as well on the last lesson of training: I think that reinvesting some of our profits can help us to improve our traffic. I have already upgraded my Jaaxy membership, joined Aweber, and buy some comments per month. The next level could be to find a writer.

Thanks for the good ideas! Your previous successes are encouraging for most of us.

Thanks for the flattery it will get you everywhere. I have lacked consistency for some time though. I have bipolar and had to take time off and got out of the habit of doing at least weekly content so returning to WA is about getting back on track and back to making a living online instead of an existence.

I could use some help finding keywords and so it slows me down from writing and posting. This provides more insight into other ways — so happy for you...!

Hey great post!! How long were you working with WA before this post, keep it up!
Reply
bonzo124 Premium
Thank you!!

I joined WA in October 2016. But I was not consistent in the beginning and could not get results.

That article was my first ranking on the first position of Google. As I mentioned above, I went on the first page only a few hours after publishing.

In my opinion, if you work on your site consistently, and you have followed the training, you will get organic traffic after 3-6 months.

Of course, it depends on many factors. Every niche is different. However, if you keep building your site properly, sooner or later you will start getting traffic.
