Undecided With My Website

I am so tired of what I have on my website...I'm frustrated and getting more aggravated with each passing day. I need to make a brand for myself and I am not so sure my website does that. Its just that I am getting so frustrated and am undecided with my website, I don't really know what to do.

Do I Leave It and Try to Fix it?

I am undecided as to whether or not I should scrap it and redo it all over again. Or just change the domain name to a new one that would make a brand for myself. Something that would identify me and make my visitors see me as a real person. I like the content on it as it stands. I am happy with my WA Review and the other blog posts.

It's more about the current domain name. I was seeking to hit a target audience with the domain name I selected. But, have come to a realization that it may not be hitting any target audience at all because of the name. I see there is so much more I can do with it if I change it to something that identifies with ME.

I would not be tied down to a certain type of post or page. I can really help my visitors relate to me, but just hate the idea of what may be involved here. I also wonder how it would affect my Google indexing and possible rankings. But, then again, I don't really care that much about that. I can have it re-indexed if need be...that isn't really a problem.

Anyone Else Deal With This Frustration?

Is there anyone else here with the same frustration issues? Anyone else not sure if their website is really where they want to take it?

Anyone here have any input for me? I am curious and really need some input as to where to go with this...

I'll take everything under advisement and see what answers I get and make my decision from there. In the meantime, I will keep creating content and just not publish it to my website until after I decide which way I am going with this.

Still, I just wish I wasn't so undecided with my website as it stands at the moment...

Please comment below if you have any suggestions...my website is under my profile if you would like to look at it first.

O.K. what am I missing here?
I just googled Bob Margroff and landed on his site.
Something must be happening in a positive light.

LOL!! That is awesome. But no one else would know to Google my name...

However, I am going to change my website domain name and transfer everything I have done so far to the new site. No dashes in the domain name this time.

Thanks for your comment and I wish you the best!

Bob

Hi Robert, I was at one point in similar frustration but after much thought, I stayed on same niche/brand. I didn't purchase another domain. This is after asking questions and decided to not change, and as Grace 'Littlemama' suggested not to rebrand.

I honestly think it's for my long-term benefit to get familiar building my first website and get more experience. Time will come when I will be ready for the second website/brand.

Glad you posted this, got lots of great tips. Hope

Terri

Thanks for responding. I don’t want to rebrand...I’m going to continue to work the MMO niche. Just need to change the domain name to be more in line with my business plan but without the dashes... 😀

No real need to re brand. Many sites have proper change of direction.

Wanderlust - travel site--->Korean Skin care
Screw The 9-5 --->Travel Site -->Highly successful MMO/entrepreneurship

I think even Nathaneil site, One more cup of coffee started out as
a) Nothing to do with coffee
b) like finance advice/investing (don't quote me on that)

Even Wealthy Affiliate had a major change from selling keyword lists to what it is today.

Edit:

Just popped into my mind in Grace's Littlemama Site, Review site --> Affiliate marketing techniques and strategies

No major "rebranding" or change required.

Hey Derek, thanks for this. I wasn’t even thinking about re-branding. Just about making my website domain more about my brand, to make me more relatable to my visitors.

But, I do like your idea. Even as I move along in this journey...it is something that I can consider a little later.

I wish you the best!

Bob

Bob,
I have seen many websites and domains with very long brand names and of course many that are short. Some I have verified owners make a very good income, and others not so much. for the same reason, you are concerned is why the strategy of some programs to accent the negative to get you to delve into shiny objects.
I am of the belief if you like it, and concentrate on traffic and everything that goes into that you will do great!

Thanks William. You words mean a lot.

My general rule is under 17 letters and how does it sound when you say it in a podcast/video.

I.e "My dash site dash the number 1 don't spell it the number dash ..(you get the idea here!) .dot com"

(the very reason to avoid dashes and numbers) Sounds

1) horrible (my opinion)
2) difficult to remember for the visitor (where was the dash?...was one or 1?...)

One if the reasons I want to change the name...I picked it and now do not like the dashes in my domain name.

We all have our moments of frustration and doubt. The important thing is to work through them, move past them, and find a better solution. You can do it!

Thanks. I’ll keep this in mind.

Hi Bob, sometimes for me it is huge frustration, well most of the time. Lot of the tome I do not know what to do. Most of this morning I spent switching things around. Using a computer monitor as opposed to my TV monitor. My site right now indicates it is not mobile friendly still.
My gosh Bob, WA consumes most of my time. For what, I know There is no money to be made here at this time of my learning curve. That is acceptable to me. No way would I even have considered the SAC challenge. I live in Ontario, Canada and have been lucky to visit Vegas.
Don't you ever, consider leaving leaving. Target audience, my gosh I wish I could get ant kind of audience.
My at this is I am practicing learning and hoping.
Please Bob frustration has become a fact of my life since I started WA for the second, time in a row.
I believe in you, you have been a significant part of of the achievements I have made.
I wish you all the best.
Michel.
Please I did no spell check or grammar check I just wrote it on the fly

Oh I’m not going anywhere. It’s just that every once in a while I see a lot about a personal brand and I wonder if my site domain is right for me.

I will keep the points here in mind when considering my new domain name. I will probably not go in the direction I was recently leaning toward.

Still feel a renaming of my domain is in order, though.

Thanks Michael, you’re a good friend.

Hi BobMargroff. Have you heard of EFT (Emotional freedom techniques). Please try them. When disturbed, 10 deep breaths will really help. You are welcome for any related queries.

Thanks, I’ll try it...tHat and prayerful meditation. 👍😀

Hi my friend, I share your frustration...every day. I hear ya. I ended up changing my brand and moving all my original posts over to my new domain name, and editing contents to match my new site. In that way, I didn't feel as if I wasted my time on my first site.

My reason for changing was, because a dear member who is more experienced in the business world, helped me brainstorm for my brand - the first site name was limited to my identity and too personal. What she advised was, always look at the future, and ask, what if a company wants to buy your brand one day? it has to be a brand that is not specific to myself. Hence the change.

There is a process to transferring content and that can be found easily in any of the trainings that we have here via search menu. You will need to ensure the old site is coded so that search engines divert traffic to your new site.

If you want to start afresh then just buy another domain and start again, with new content.

Hi Saane, buying a new domain name was part of it, and I figured transferring everything wouldn't be too much of a problem. That was part of my plan.

I see your point about the branding and being too personal with yourself. As that was exactly what I was thinking of doing...but also do not plan to sell my website to anyone else. It would be all me.

Now, I may want to re-think this idea...just still in the head at the moment. I will take what you say into advisement. But, will wait a while to see what others say and consider it all.

Thanks for your input, I do value your advice.

I wish you the best!
Bob

No probs Bob :) it is best to get a few more other suggestions.

Bob, I cannot agree with @snazzyit more. In the business world there is a saying that ‘if you do not have an exit strategy, you are not doing a business’. In my view, exit strategy should be a core and we should approach affiliate marketing as a business.
Saying so, personal brands could work in some instances but not in most of cases. We all have to ‘retire’ at some point.
Best wishes.

Sounds like you may have already made a decision. Just a bit of advice.
We all waste time worrying about how our site may look or are constantly looking for a better theme.
Some of us waste YEARS! LOL. Content is king. Just keep that in mind as you ponder your path and keep creating content in the mean time.
This is good as we all make subtle changes every day. Sometimes many times a day. LOL.
