My Wealthy Affiliate Progress To Date
Well Team I'm going to follow the 5 steps suggested in this lesson, so here I go!
Progress so Far:
It hasn't been exactly a walk in the park to date and I still find it difficult to navigate the WA site. That may seem a little hard for some to understand but I'm sure the interface in the videos are outdated to the ones we are using ...... that's one thing, and finding "site Ribix" is another. Apart from that I am trying my best to put as many hours into this course as I can in between quoting on building projects and just making a living like everyone else in assume.
My Niche "Home Security and Safety"
At first I really struggled to find a niche, and for some unknown reason I chose the above thinking I knew a little about it, until I did some in depth research and found out that technology had progressed a hell of a lot since I was involved in it part-time. Well that was a GOOD thing as well since it was very interesting and exciting to catch up on these changes. And secondly by including the word "Safety" in the niche it opened up a plethora of other aspects I could explore and hopefully be creative with....... So now I am pleased with my choice of niche!
Another part that I find frustrating is that looking at my site I feel as if I have chosen the wrong theme. I know it can be changed, but when is the right time to change it? ...... I see other sites from other members that have been in this great program for the same amount of time as myself, and their's looks very professional compared to mine ..... Did I miss something at the beginning I ask myself, or am I not outgoing enough to TRY other options? ..... Well the last one is correct for sure as I'm frightened I may lose some content that has taken me a lot to gather to date. ...... I'll leave that thought with you guys!
Another disappointment to me was that after finding my niche website name and registering it as www.homesecurity.com (see it didn't even light up) I found someone else is using that name, or well it wasn't the site I am working on that came up. Well that's the biggest disappointment thus far!
But do you know something!............ Although this has been a challenge to date, I'm NOT GIVING UP! ....... as I know it can all be fixed in the long term (Just not too long I hope) and I can't wait for the day that I get this site up and running so I can continue to work it, and really look forward to integrating my affiliate partners to finally sell something, don't know what lesson that's in but can't be far away.

Plans and Goals in the Coming 3 Months.
My ideal plan it to have my site completed before 3 months with the help of WA and our knowledgeable Members, and Goals are that I will have my affiliate partners in place by the end of that period. I don't know if that is a realistic target but maybe I can get feedback from those who have achieved their objective in this regard?

My long term plan is to perfect the site by continuous research into my niche and to look for any areas that can be expanded, and no doubt be a profitable exercise.

Then oh my goodness that was kind of intense! What is everyone else doing , why do theirs look amazing and full of information or links or whatever. Then I think they may be pro's already or have at least some of this terminology in them already!
This is your work of art, not theirs, it doesn't have to be like theirs. It is yours to build, to create!
I seem to get this excitement about my accomplishments to then bump into something super small that takes me forever to work out. Stay with it, keep your head up!

Hi Bobby,you are making great progress.
Picking out a great theme that you like is probably one of the biggest challenges no one really talks about that much. There are just too many to choose from. You can waste hours.
If you know with certainty that you do want to change, I would do it sooner rather than later.
Your header, menus, side bars, footer and feature posts, if you have that set up will most likely change. (I just changed one of my themes today. )
One of the advantages about commenting on other people's posts via site comments is that you can see a variety of themes with different layouts to determine what you like. When you find one that you like, scroll down the bottom and see if the theme name is there.
Thanks Sondra! ... I think I'll tackle the theme change today in order to get some confidence and consistency happening.

Are you sure that the domain name that you thought you bought doesn't have a typo or something it?
I just went to the domain that you thought you purchased. It looks like a parked page. I would guess that it is for sale for some really expensive price.
I just checked homesecurity.co and it is for sale for $14,000 if I recall correctly.
When I googled that domain name, no direct matches came up. Most people that have home security in their names have something like ADT Home Security. IT Home Security, etc.
Well, I need to focus on my own websites now. I think you picked a great niche.
If you have problems understanding something, just ask question or get in a chat and ask. People are willing to help if they know the answer.
