Will backlinks lose their importance in ranking?

Hi again! I've found another interesting video that I would like to share. This video will clear your doubts on backlinks. As explained by Matt Cutts, backlinks still matter with regards to rankings at this point of time and it will continue this way in the next few years. However, backlinks will lose its importance over time.
For people who do not know who Matt Cutts is, he is Google's software engineer since January 2000 and currently the head of Google's Webspam team.

Yes, it is all about ensuring backlinks come from quality high ranking sites. Having ten high quality backlinks is worth more these days than having a thousand backlinks to poor quality sites.
