World Poetry Day
Hello my WA family all over the world! Hope everyone is doing well! I fell like crap but I am resting. I don't have the Coronavirus. Just a mean sore throat and body aches but no fever.
I was just told something from a member here (Mickey/Mick18) at WA, that as a writer I should've known but was unaware of. Each day I learn something new from Wealthy Affiliate and all of you here.
Today Is World Poetry Day!
"Poetry reaffirms our common humanity by revealing to us that individuals, everywhere in the world, share the same questions and feelings. Poetry is the mainstay of oral tradition and, over centuries, can communicate the innermost values of diverse cultures." ~~ United Nations
Today, March 21 was proclaimed World Poertry Day by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO at their 30th general assembly in 1999.
So in honor of World Poetry Day - March 21, 2020, twenty-one years after it's proclamation, I would like to share with you another one of my poems. Oh, so I know it's not Friday, but you can thank Mickey for this one!

Just two strangers when this all began
Not knowing what it would become
Nor what the years would bring.
The ups the downs
The ins and outs
Yet here we are still hangin’ ‘round and hangin’ on…
To something neither of us understands.
The why and the how
The fantasy and the realty.
We’ve gone over and over and over it
Time and time again.
It still works out to be the same in the end.
Nothing we do and nothing we say
Not even our love
Can make it go away.
Nine years now we’ve been at this dance
Hoping that maybe, just maybe
One day there will be a chance.
To be free to embrace
What our feelings cannot touch
Two hearts beating together without disgrace.
Unexplained and uncontrolled
The tears come now
Like flood raging waters from deep within my soul.

Hi Barbara, By the way I am saving all your poems. I think they are beautiful.
Here is my contribution to World Poetry Day:
I got up early this morning
and rushed out into the day.
I had so much to accomplish,
that I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled all around me,
and heavier became each task.
Why doesn't God help me I cried,
He answered, "You didn't ask me.
I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day turned out to be dark and grey.
I wondered, why God didn't show me.
He said, "But you did not seek"
I tried to come into God's presence,
I used all the keys I had to unlock the door.
The doors would not open for me, I cried feeling hopeless.
God leaned gently and loving toward me, and asked,
"My child why didn't you knock"
Tomorrow I will wake up and stop to pray,
I can not survive this world alone.
All the best,
Michael
Michael,
Thank you for sharing this wonderfully beautiful poem with me.
Also thank you very much for enjoying my poems enough to save them.
I'm working on putting them together for publication shortly.
All the best and keep praying.
God hears you. He hears us all.
He never gives us more than what he knows we can handle.
Barbara
Nice, Michael!
It certainly was!
