Should we leave "recent comments" posts on sidebar of website?

Just wondering if I should leave this feature showing on homepage? I am showing comments in genesis feature widget for product reviews in sidebar.
I know its important for visitors to see that there are comments but showing already in feature box

I have recent posts and related posts, which I think could lead people to spend more time on your site. Comments I don't really think are necessary.
I took it off mine because is seemed crowded and it was odd that is put up my reply to the comment as well as the original comment. The comments are on the pages that they are application to so people can read them there. Just my opinion.

Interesting question and discussion, one I don't recall seeing yet in WA. I've left recent comments up on my site, however, I really would prefer to not have my responses to the comments showing if I could control it.
Whether they are helpful in adding to the discussion or interest on my site I can't say yet.
