i dont know why i have such a hard time remembering this i need to add some html code into a post on wordpress..But you cant to it by just switching from visual to text. Becaus
Open the post in edit mode and click on the Text tab. The text tab is the HTML code for the formatted text that you see in the Visual tab. Paste the code into the Text tab wherever you want it to appear.
Please go into the post at the back office of wordpress and at the top right next to the visual is the text editor, click it and go to the area where you want to place the html code.

im adding an amazon ad code but im not sure where to place it in a post or in a widget
i was going to add it in my post i just cant remember how to get the editor to show all html code i know how to place it i just cant remember how to get the editor to give me the whole source code
You can put it in either,
If you wrote a post about a product you want to promote, put it in your post.
If you want it to display in your sidebar, use a sidebar widget.
