Trick To The New Ranking System-Read It Here
Okay, it seems everyday there are more and more people trying to figure out what is going on with the new ranking system. Well Im here to tell you I have it figured out so after you read this any further posts about ranking should not happen anymore.
Okay first off I would be lying if I said I didnt notice my ranking. Of course we all do. However I wouldnt be lying if I said I rarely pay attention to it.
Here is what I do. I act totally natural here. If I see a blog that interests me I click on it and read it. if I can make a relevant lengthy comment I do. If the post isnt for me I just click off it instead of just saying good job or something like that.
I click on the questions and if I can answer I do. However I never answer if I dont have an answer. For example I dont say things like ya I need to know about that or thats a good question.
As for blog posts I only put one up when I have what I think is an ok one. I have no clue how some people post three times a day every day.
Just be natural and dont try and play the system. Not only is it obvious but its really a waste of your time.
Remember first and foremost why you came to Wealthy Affiliate. That was to learn how to build an online business.
While I believe the community is a vital part of Wealthy Affiliate I know that for the most part it does little for my business when I spend a bunch of extra time there trying to boost my rankings. I try and get help and give help and bottom line thats pretty much it for me.
So now everyone has the answer so we can all get back to working on being successful in our website and business creation.

Hi Dale, many thanks for your realistic assessment. I set aside a regular amount of time to answer emails that I can add helpful advice to and then move on to my actual day's work - my website! Occasionally, I have time that I can spend chatting to people, but this seems to be getting less and less as I get busier... which is good! Sue :)
yep getting busy with your business is a good thing.
I dont check website stats at work but when I get home I sure do and let me tell you I am a lot more excited to see a bit of organic traffic then waking up in the morning and seeing my ranking improving.

What a terrific answer! The rankings are strictly for the ego and doesn't do a thing for the bank account.
We have come to WA for building a on-line business, I totally agree. But it is fun to see your numbers sometime, everyone should keep it all in perspective. Thanks Dale.

You are absolutely right. It still is fun to see the numbers and like I said of course I look at them.
I just dont consume all my time trying to get to number one.
I just want everyone to know I am not saying the community is a bad thing because lord knows I have got plenty of help from it.
However what you do need to remember is that website stats and ranking is very important to your business while community stats and ranking in the community does virtually nothing for your business.

I know that I am probably neglecting my site...maybe. But I do manage to get a lot of work done as well. I am up until late in the night, and that allows me some extra time to devote to the community.
And, let's face it, I just LOVE to chat..LOL!!!!

You're welcome! No problem at all, I just had to comment since it's something that I can definitely relate to and felt I had to say thank you for sharing your advice on it.
If I see a post that I might be interested in reading, I'll read it, and if I really it, or can add a relevant comment, I'll comment on it...if not, I just leave...same goes for answering questions. If I can I will, if not, then I don't bother saying anything.
Anyways, don't know why that seems so hard for some, but to each their own I guess.

Again I am in total belief that as long as you go in naturally your ranking will take care of itself.
It's well to say that working on websites et al is the main focus and it is. BUT people are automatically and addictively drawn to ranking numbers by habit here anyway and it is posted so centrally every day that it cant be missed.
Instead of policing functions, I'd just like to see the ranking algorithm incognito to us at least by optional choice like cruise control to help direct to these really necessary functions!
Like most people the ranking system for me is an ego boost. Honestly that's all it is. Mine has been slipping for a bit now, mainly because Im not here as much. I decided to put more effort into my site and less to the community here.
Dont get me wrong, the community here is what makes this the best site of its kind out there. I would not be as far along as I am without the help of the folks here on WA.

You are absolutely right. I come to the community for help once I have exhausted all other avenues. Hell I have even met a few people here that I am proud to call a friend.
My ego boost is when I check my stats and see a few more people have visited my sites through organic traffic.
Yes the community is a vital part here but one thing is for sure we aren't going to make a living with good stats in the ranking.
I'm forever telling members not to worry about WA rank, it's merely a reflection of your activity and engagement within the community here, it's not a benchmark of "success" in any shape or form and it certainly won't earn you a dime.
It's also true that some of the most financially successful members here don't rank in the WA league table at all, they're far too busy earning to engage on the level required to maintain rank.
Unfortunately, some members get distracted by following, socialising, blogging and "competitive" ranking within WA to the detriment of their training and then end up complaining they're not getting anywhere business-wise.
I have lost count of the number of high ranking members and even ambassadors who after a year or two at WA end up whining they are still not earning. It often only takes a casual inspection to realise they've ended up with hundreds - if not thousands! - of pieces of content here at WA, in order to rank highly on the WA "leaderboard", but hardly any by comparison on their own websites, where it would actually have done them some good.
I honestly believe they'd have been better off playing Candy Crush !!
yep Candy crush is where its at lol. You are so right. If I can put the next 1500 words on a website post as compared to a blog post here its going on the website.
I see so many posts here that are so well written and would make great posts or pages on a website.
Like I said and will always say the community is a much needed place but please dont let it turn into your next Facebook.
I am not posting as much anymore to my WA blog. The blog posts I do create are a by-product of research I am doing for blog posts and articles for my websites.
