On A Personal Note-Not WA related

Hello to all My WA friends and followers. For the most part I dont post personal stuff but on occasion I will. Its never negative but always positive.

Well here goes.

About three months ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Well my first reaction was this is a death sentence. However my second reaction was I am not going to let this beat me.

Well with hard work and determination I have made great strides.

When I was diagnosed my sugar levels were 20 mmol/l Well less than 3 months later my average reading is 6 mmol/l and my Dr is very happy.

Yes I am on a little medication but I changed my diet drastically. The whole story is on my new website but Im not writing this to tell you to go to my website. Just because Im pretty happy and thought this would be an ok place to share.

If any of my fellow WA members are diabetic or know diabetics and have a story feel free to share it.

Once again Im sorry if this wasnt the place but I just thought I would post something a little different today.

Happy Thursday

Dale

Great news, Dale...it's always good to hear happy news like this.

There' nothing wrong with sharing your life here. We are glad to know that you are wisely managing it and life goes on still.

Yep, for a brief moment I felt sorry for myself and then quickly changed to. Well I got myself into this so now the hard work of getting myself out begins.

Just remember there is always a solution to any problem in this world as long as we are living. When we die no hope. Life is not about what we can achieve but it's what we are happy and contented about. Achievements are just additional blessings but we can live in simplicity for, after all, all these are all vanities as the wise man says.
We need money and so we are here. We want to be amply supplied with our needs. There are times we want to gratify our wants but it would be enough if just our necessities are addressed and we are happy each day that passes by.

Great news Dale, well done you and you have every right to be happy. xxx

Way to go, Dale!

I have had type 2 for several years now. And I control it entirely with my diet. I am not on any medication.

What helped me was doing the Whole30 program to reset my eating habits last spring. For 30 days, I ate NO grains, sugar in any form, dairy, legumes, or alcohol. It was healthy proteins, vegetables, fruit, and lots of eggs. I switched to cooking with ghee, coconut oil and olive oil. I no longer use any vegetable oil. I also added much more healthy fats into my diet. I have added back limited grains (rice) and legumes and occasional dairy.

That is awesome Glen. I am slowly working towards being meds free.

I have a great Dr and respect their decisions. I know when they feel I am ready they will let me step off and see how it goes.

Thanks for the response and good luck with all your future endevors with Diabetes

hey, Dale. I added a comment on your website.

It's a great attitude Dale, to beat this thing. Congrats on your accomplishments already!

We all share once in a while something personal, a birth, a celebration, an illness and unfortunately sometimes a death.

Business owners have also private lives, sometimes ☼ sometimes less ☼

I agree. Apparently we are not robots lol. I am doing all this to better my life. Thanks for the comment.

Way to go, Dale! My boyfriend struggles with diabetes so I know how hard it can be to get those numbers down! Keep up the fantastic work!

I definatly know its tough but it has become a commitment and a passion. Please have him read my website and follow. Also can send me a message if he wants to talk.

Congrats Dale...I know how hard it is to control diabetes, as my Dad was a diabetic. You are doing a wonderful job. If you keep the diabetes in check, you will never have to think of it as a death sentence. Keep up the good work!!

As for posting this here, it's my understanding that this is an open forum and this is where we post as we want, as long as it is within WA guidelines. If I am wrong, someone needs to let me know. Keep posting!!!!

Great to hear a positive story, I too need to address this, Im not diabetic yet but feel it is inevitable if I dont do something. Im so pleased to read this, if you can do it so can I!!

Please dont do as I did. my Dr first told me I was pre diabetic and needed to start eating healthy and so forth. Well i just thought well pre just means I have lots of time and ignored the warnings. Well here I am and no longer pre.

Feel free to look at my latest post on my website about diabetes. Its not even done yet. No images yet but it does have my story detailed or PM me if you are interested in how I changed my diet. i would be glad to help.

Dale

Of course this is the place to share! And Dale I am so happy that you did share it!! It's so awesome that you are working on your health to make diabetes not such a scary thing for you, and it's good for others to share with you stories they have! I have a few people in my family who have diabetes, but my mother-in-law is very sick with here's..has to watch everything she eats, takes meds, checks blood sugar, takes insulin shots which practically makes her broke with the cost of all the medicine! Thanks so much for sharing Dale!

Well you dont know how happy I was to see you reply. I hope you are doing ok. Thank you for the kind words and I hope your mother-in-law gets it taken care of.

I am very lucky i work for the Federal Government here in Canada and I have great medical insurance.

Anyways my friend on another note feel free to email or PM me if you ever need to talk.

I hope you realize in your short time here you have become a very valuable and loved person. Dont let anything sway you.

Dale
