I Want To Help Newbies Find Their Way

I thought I was retired. But, this recession had a different idea. The market hit me hard and at the same time, some of my adult children needed help.

What to do? This was certainly not the time to start looking for a new job. No one was going to hire a retired person, that was for sure.

So I took stock of what I have. A computer; some business experience; before that, teaching experience; and before that, a good education. Oh, also, good health and enough clothes to last the rest of my life.

But, just because I own a computer does not mean that I could do much on it at that time. E-mail, sure. A bit of surfing. Not much else. It was intimidating. Dealing with Tech persons could almost reduce me to tears. But, it was what I had. So I decided I had to become friends with my computer. (We are doing much better, but I wouldn't call us BFF, yet!) So ...

I set out to learn how to make an income online.

I did not become an overnight sensation. Not even an over-the- first year sensation. Actually there's been nothing sensational at all, yet.

I have stumbled and bumbled, followed this person, believed that person, spent money I didn't really have, and gotten nowhere. I know there are many on this path. It is the path to Nada!

To make things even dumber, I belonged to Wealthy Affiliate very near the start of my bumbling career. But, there was so much here I found it overwhelming and gave up my membership to chase someone else who convinced me they could make it easier.

Finally I woke up to the fact that this is where it is. The only place one needs to be. And there is so much more here, now, than there was before.There is nothing one can need, that cannot be found here. If you can think of something that is missing, just go ask on the forum and someone there will either give you the info you seek, or tell you where to get it.

So I've ceased bumbling, and started succeeding. You can, too.

I know there are lots of others who have had a difficult time in these recent years. And I would like to help if I can. That's why I want to dedicate this blog to the persons who find WA overwhelming. It really isn't, but you sure can get a dose of overload if you don't focus.

I want to help you avoid my mistakes, and not bumble around, as I did for years, before you wise up!

If you are brand new here, start with the community. Wander around in WA Spaces a bit. Hookup with some folks you feel you could relate with. Say Hello. Create your own WA space. Welcome those who send you a greeting.

Second task - the Forum. Just spend a bit of time getting familiar there. I doubt if there are many who have read every post. There are many, many thousand. But, there will be some that catch your eye. And after you've given a couple short sessions to snooping around, you will have a good idea of the places where you want to spend some more of your time.

Now, for the action plan. If you are not yet ready to focus, try a few of the member tutorials. Get your feet wet with trying your hand at writing an article,or putting up a squidoo page. There is help here on how to do those things.

Bumble a bit, if you feel that's for you. But, keep your eye on that action plan (on the left side of the home page) because that is where you really want to start.

My hope is that some of the information that I can share will help someone else stay on at WA, and thereby get through these tough times a bit easier.
