Hi everyone. I've set up GA tracking on my website but it's recording zero hits. I know this isn't true because I haven't excluded myself from the tracking and I've had comment

It would be because of the Google Update.
read about it here -

Hey Robert, Thank YOU for sharing that.
Google's John Mueller verified what I've been saying... see screen print below...

Hi Trish, yes indeed that update will have a lot of marketers having to look at their online content and update accordingly.
Yes again I did notice the piece about having stuff above the fold.
I still don't see any change in my site with banners above the fold though.
Hope you're having a good Friday.
Robert

Authoring & Writing Content
Updated

Hi everyone - just taking stock of my articles and seeing if I can improve anything. I've noticed my content tends to be quite lengthy. The shortest article I have is 1050 word

I have been told that articles should be at least 2,500 words each to have good content. (This comes from 2 very successful website builders that my husband follows!) Afterall, content is KING!! I also am a wordy person and love the fact that articles should be long. What I have learned, though, is although they are long, they must have sub-titles, be broken into much smaller chunks of only 5-7 sentences and have pictures that represent the text (where they are placed). So keep us posted on how this is working for you. Take Care.

Those are actually on the short end. You want your minimum of being 1000, max should be under the 4000 word mark

I've noticed a few posts on this recently, suggesting I'm not the only one that has this problem. So this question might be redundant but I'm going to ask it anyway because the

Hi Jack, we're working on SiteComments right now and although we are coming out with an entirely new design with many advancements to the technology, we will be releasing some updates in the coming days which are going to tackle the fact that the same few sites keep getting displayed when offering comments.

The Give and Take comment thread is an old post that we directed folks to before SiteComments was around, now it's highly suggested to use SiteComments instead of that thread as you cannot guarantee that you'll get comments if you are leaving them on others.

We're excited about the next BIG update to SiteComments and I think that everyone will love the new features and ways that the system works.

more clarity
faster comments
better interest matching
notifications
new design

It's going to be great and we've dedicated part of our team to getting this ready :) No release date yet, but it's coming ASAP.

Carson

Thanks for the clarification Carson. I'm very happy to hear updates are coming, and the new SiteComments sounds like its going to be great. I can't wait!

Frankly I think it's a mix of things, people not knowing how to use it or more likely simply not wanting to, and issues with what it presents to people (I was having an issue where it would only show me the same 3 or 4 posts to comment on - turns out it was my filter settings but frustrating just the same). I know Carson mentioned a new system is in the works but as to when that will be made available I don't know.

In the end we need more people to use it and on a regular basis. I am striving to leave 4 comments per day - sometimes it's just 2 but 4 is my goal and I urge people to do it when I'm in live chat too.

I agree with you. I use it when I need comments, but that's usually every two days or so when I get a new article out, so I'm trying to leave comments frequently. And it's as you say, the same few websites each time. Maybe I ought to check my filter settings too. It's so annoying because this is a pivotal part of the WA training that people are paying for and not using, and it's doubly annoying for people who want to engage with Sitecomments and increase their site trust - we're now unable to.

I forgot to say, merlynmac, if you're in need of comments, I'll provide some for you. Just let me know your web address!

Thanks. The problem is there's a thread out there where people just post their URLs and ask for comments or say I'll comment if you do. It's the "lazy man's approach". "Oh great I can just leave a line here and people will comment, cool I don't have to do any work." Sadly this results in poor comments or people not reciprocating when you leave one. There's not accountability. I use the tool and, frankly, expect others to as well. Don't go the lazy way. That's not a good way to run a business.

You're exactly right - I don't even bother with that thread, I think it's an official thread started by Kyle but it seems like people are just leaving their sites there and not bothering to leave comments on other people's sites first. And if it's not policed, then people will just continue to do it. I don't know how people can expect success when they're not willing to take 2 minutes to leave a small comment on someone else's page. The best investment of one's time is to help others. This is why the Sitecomments tool is such a good idea, and why it's such a bad idea to give people the ability to buy credits, because it removes the "pay-it-forward" aspect of the community. And now we have a SiteComments tool that I feel I'm not able to use any more because it doesn't work properly.
