10 Phrases you should never use on your homepage.

1.“Let Us”- Asking for permission immediately puts you in a position of weakness. Speak in the affirmative, as though it is already happening.

2.“Welcome To”- If it is not abundantly obvious where your visitor has landed, ‘you screwed up’. Welcome messages are a waste of time and attention.

      3.“Industry Standard”- Hooray, you’re average.

4.“Allow/Let’s you- This sounds begrudging. Use “empowers”, or just plainly tell them what they can do.

5.“Unique”- is there anything less unique than being “unique”.

6.“Whatever”- Deadly because it’s usually tied to statement’s like, “Whatever you need”. Get specific.

7.“High/Top/Best Quality”- for reasons I’ve already written about.

8.“Innovative”- Usually used to fill the space

9.“It goes without saying”- No it doesn’t. Say it.

10.“We”- Nobody cares about you-They care about themselves.

Always looking to improve on it, so any advice you can give in terms of the wording/phrases I've used would be fantastic. Feel free to P.M. me with any advice if you'd like! :)

Thanks for the information! Notes taken.

Glad it was helpful. Please tell your followers to pop over and help themselves.

I agree with most but not all of your phrases to forget. I feel the "Welcome To" phrase can be good if you have a site that wants responses from potential customers.

That's ok Larry, it's all about content on your webpage .... but , I always tend to say to anyone 'avoid' the 'Welcome to',Otherwise If it is not immediately obvious to your visitors what your website is about, you are going to need to write a welcome message which makes the purpose of your website clear. If your website is simple, it may not be necessary to write a welcome message.

Agree such words irritates me as well when I know that they are just for promotion :)
