My Internet business model

A very fast overview of my Internet business model

First, I had to choose the niche I want to work in. Environment is my primary mission, but I found it hard to monetize. My second mission is to help people and communities become more resilient, but I need to better focus that niche. I choose to promote products that will make survival and recovery from a hurricane as quick and comfortable as possible.

Keep in mind that there are probably as many ways to use the internet as there are users of the internet.

I want to develop an Internet Marketing (IM) business that provides me the income I need to do what I want and respond to any emergency that comes my way. When we have to go to assisted living the cost will be roughly $15,000/ month so that is my monetary goal.

How do I do that?

IM is the only business model I know of that lets me work from anywhere and has a low enough entry cost that I can participate.

What have I accomplished so far?

I have websites for business development (IM), for Conservation with an emphasis on Hawaii, for resilient living (personal, financial and global), and for personal development. I have to develop one at a time, so I am concentrating on resilientliingtips(RLT}.

I have developed my websites and am providing fresh content to RLT in the form of weekly blogs. Each post is SEO optimized. I have set up an opt-in list and an auto-responder, I use MailChimp, and I have held periodic webinars. On RLT, I am selling water containers, water filters, long term storage foods, emergency rations and camping gear. I get a commission on the sales. It is similar to being a sales rep, but instead of local my sales are global. I am in the process of developing my own products which I will sell through the same network.

So there you have it:

  1. decide what you want to accomplish. Your niche is nothing more than something you are interested in and want to promote.
  2. Develop a website that provides others who are interested in your niche the information and help they need.
  3. Encourage others to subscribe to your email opt-in list.
  4. Use an auto-responder to create a relationship with the members of your list.
  5. Post helpful information to you website blog at least weekly.
  6. Use a webinar to further build a relationship with your list. They have to know you as a sincere, helpful and honest person.

Yes it is a lot of work. It is also very duplicable. Anyone with a computer, a phone, and an internet connection can do this.

It took me a while to realize the websites I describe above are hard to monetize. I watched Jay of Magistudios built a website promoting football snack helmets. That site is currently producing an excellent income. It is an evergreen site. It produces income without him having to do anything more. Scale up your income by developing another niche. You determine how much money you want to make and how fast you want to make it by the effort you put into developing your business.

At 88, I don't have any time to waste. I'm accomplishing more right now than I did in my entire working life.

  • Know your values;
  • Define your Mission;
  • Determine the niche you want to promote;
  • Build your website;
  • Post regularly with helpful information to increase your traffic;
  • Capture contact information in your opt-in list;
  • Use an auto-responder to provide your list the information they need and build a trusting relationship with you list members;
  • Use SEO and Social Media to promote your posts;
  • Use a webinar to interact with your list.

The question I get all the time is how long will it take me to develop an income? The answer depends on how much time you are willing to devote to your business. It has taken me five years to learn what I need to know to be successful. With WA and consistently implementing what you learn, you can learn how to be successful in six months. You will learn by doing. Take the Entreprenuerial Certification Course and actually do each of the homework tasks at the end of each lesson. Study the websites of our leaders. View the weekly MagiStudios training. Our members have provided you some wonderful training. Pick a subject and study what interests you. Member developed training is available to even free members.

NEVER STOP LEARNING!

The great hurdle you have to overcome is you own mind. Most people's first thought is, "The computer is too complicated. I can never learn to do this." BS! Even a 10-year old who gets introduced to IM rather than to a computer game can do this. They will do it because IM is fun and challenging. So have fun.

Take the challenge and create a life no one can take away from you.

You are definitely an inspirations to all of us. Keep up the good work, thanks, Deanna

Great article, thanks! Bookmarked :)

You are doing lots of things very well, Bill. Good for you:)

I'm sure you know this, but let's rephrase your sentence for those who don't know.
.
Don't forget, a niche isn't only something YOU are interested in that you want to promote, it is related to a product or service where a GROUP of people all share in that similar interest. Otherwise, if it was only yourself, you would have no customer base to sell to.

Btw, I cannot believe you are 88! Admiration!

Legend!

A lot of great concise and compact tips.
I thank you for sharing them here Bill.

You are doing a great job Bill. It is amazing what we can do when we set our mind to it.

Wow! That is all I have to say. Great job! I am working on a website with downloadable music tracks. It is kicking my butt...but it might pay off in a big way. It is fun too! Putting it on the back burner for a few weeks because I have to build a website for a furniture store...then right back at it!!!

My progress in developing websites for myself has been much delayed by developing websites for others. No regrets. I needed the money and learned a lot. Now I try to limit by website gigs enough that I can work my business at least an hour a day.

Prioritize and block out time for everything you have to do. I find I can multi-task but only if I focus on one thing at a time.

The internet is a great way to promote musicians. Your work is easy to download and you can reach the world.

Since you are a fellow website builder...I will have you take a look at my music website when I get closer. I think I am going to build a downloadable phone app for it too. I have a mattress company and an insurance company website to do also. I think I will put them off for awhile so I can work on my own stuff.

You can multitask provided you focus on one thing at a time. I work in one hour blocks. Some people work in half hour blocks main thing, known what is most important and focus hopefully without interruptions.
