Is there more to life than what I am doing?

On the River of Life, some people drift and some people paddle.

Some people go through life doing whatever life presents. Others plan every detail of ever day and get frustrated when they cannot make it happen. Introverts tend to plan. Extroverts tend to let it happen.

I have been an unsuccessful planner, but I am getting a lot better at it.

My life has made a sharp turn in the last 6 months, My wife came close to death last September. Her recovery has been slow and her mobility is severely limited. My daughter and I take turns providing her 24/7 help.

Fortunately, I have Internet Marketing (IM) to keep me productive. I can work at my computer while being available to help my wife.

I'm taking a minimalist approach to life. I cut back on a lot of community service activities and am learning to say NO.

I'm still active on in my community and am working to make it more resilient in recovery from a hurricane or other disaster, My website is part of that effort.

That is the current basis for my life plan, but to be more specific:

First, I do not believe in separating my life into Work and Personal as so many gurus recommend. I have one life and have to plan accordingly.

Second, I believe in creating personal, financial and environmental resilience in my life. Financial comes first because without money you cannot afford anything else. I dream big and then figure out how I can finance my dreams. Don't let your dreams die because you don't have enough income to finance them.

Third, establishing my financial resilience is why I am involved in IM. I think IM is the best business model for most people and financial resilience depends on having passive income coming from multiple sources. Do I need to mention that WA is the best place to learn IM?

IM provides a way to create pasive income from multiple sources.

Fourth, I am going back through the the Entrepreneur Certification Course and making sure I have implemented everything I have been taught in my RLT website.

I was trying to maintain to many websites. I won't go into why, but I am concentrating on RLT and letting my other sites pretty much take care of themselves until RLT is profitable.

RLT is one of the first websites I developed as a result of WA training. I am in the process of reorganizing the site. I built it out without much plan and the disorganization shows.

Implementing my Plan

I am posting 3 times a week to RLT. I am reviewing products with emphasis on those products I have affiliated with. I am developing my own digital products.

My emphasis is on what I call relationship development. I try to turn clients into friends and friends into clients. In other words, I look for ways I can work with others to our mutual benefit.

Right now my goal is to get my website drawing traffic. I spend a minimum of a half hour a day creating content and implementing the instructions in the Entrepreneur Certification Course. Nothing interferes with that half hour.

My website niche is personal, financial and environmental resilience. That is far to broad and I am trying to figure out how to make my site more focused.

My emphasis right now is researching companies I can affiliate with who have products in my niche. In order to be prepared people need to have food and water and shelter for at least 3 days. I live on an island and judging on what has happened in Puerto Rico I need supplies for at least 6 months.

Based on my current life situation, I am researching mobility for the elderly. That is part of being resilient but it could be a website by itself.

Jay finally pounded through my head that our websites need to be specific to a specific product or at least a narrowly focused range of products such as equipment to help prevent falls in the elderly.

Conclusion:

1. Complete the Entrepreneur Certification Course and implement everything it teaches.
2. Monetize my websites by finding affiliate programs and writing reviews for each of our programs.
3. Start with a review of WA.
4. Complete the Boot Camp training which uses the promotion of WA as a model for IM in general.
5. Post a minimum of 3 posts a week to the RLT blog.
6. Go to the Comments Forum and ask for advice.

Planning starts with knowing your values. You values form the basis for your calling. Your calling is the reason you get out of bed in the morning. Know what the most important thing in your life is and work on it a little bit every day.

There are experts that say we should share our plan with others, and there are experts who say sharing our plan will make us less likely to accomplish our goals. What do you think?

Do you plan? How do you carry out your plans? Do you share your plan with a mentor?

Love this post, Bill!
I guess I am an unsuccessful planner right now. I need to figure out if I'm planning too much, or lacking vision, or have a confused purpose, or all of the above . . . .
Anyway, your blog got me thinking and that is step one to solving any problem. Thank you so much!

I am so sorry to hear about your wife. I am glad you can be there to take care of her. It is wonderful we can have a business from home by doing this.

It looks like you are on the brink of diving in and getting a lot done. Good for you!

Comments are the fastest way I have found to rise Google ranking for posts so definitely use them!

I like #1. work and personal is your life, a person does have to plan for both.

Great writing Bill , always good to read your blogs. Love them

Great post. Jay was right, because of him I stayed focus on my plan for my website, and after a few months, it start to show. This post I will share with my referrals, thanks!

Great stuff Bill thanks for posting it

Thank you for this Bill,
I think that sharing our plans are a 50-50 thing. I usually don't share much until I'm on a roll, with a clear blueprint of what I'm doing.
I hope your wife is feeling as good as possible each day.

I think that makes sense. Once you have proven you concept you may draw support. Sharing your dreams with others can often bring a negative response and discouragement.

Brilliant thank you for sharing.
