Do I actually have to become a premium member before I begin to see any kind of traffic and therefore, gaining revenue from affiliate sites?
As in, I would have to pay a mo

Hi - you have received good advice below. I will just add that you can stay as a free member for as long as you want, and work on your free website for up to 6 months.

Once you have chosen your niche, all the content on your website should relate to that. After you have added a lot of articles to your site, at least 15 posts, then you can apply to affiliate programs.

Thank you Diane. I am definitely starting to understand this whole thing a little more with each lesson. Might be going back on some lessons like the "widgets" one to perfect that.
You mentioned "6 months". Does that mean my website will seize to exist after that?

Will I still be able to gain access to my website?
Will I have to pay the premium first before?
Will all my content still be functioning after 6 months and I choose the membership option or Will I need to start from scratch?

Hi - after 6 months, you will be sent an email asking if you now wish to upgrade to premium. If you don't, then your website will be deleted.

If you do upgrade, then your website will remain intact with all its content.

It is considered that 6 months is long enough for you to have decided if you are serious about your business, and wish to take it further by upgrading to premium.

I see. Sometimes it's not about the seriousness... it really all boils down to the finances to maintain a membership. I am a very diligent person, hence my being able to get this far. However, the unemployment rate in South Africa is currently sitting at 30% and I am that 30% right now. So you know, I am exhausting every avenue possible in order to maintain what I have already accomplished thus far. Thank you Diane.

It's not as easy to make a living from your site if you don't go premium. You would have to have a good knowledge of WordPress and of content writing etc , The training you receive at a premium level us incredible. You have to understand that affiliate marketing is a business. Most offline business's take thousands of dollars to start whereas with WA it is a mere monthly fee. Jim

So, in short... I would have to go premium?
At this stage, this isn't really an option for me. I already don't generate any income from anywhere as an unemployed high school teacher in South Africa.

I'd go as far as you can with the free training. Have you thought about doing blog writing for others? That a look at 'Upwork' or. 'Fiverr'. These sites are always looking for people to write blogs for other affiliate marketers. The money can be low for starters but once your experienced you can earn over $50 US an hour. Jim

Thanks Jim. I will definitely do that. I've managed to get to lesson 8 thus far with still a significant number of days on the clock... grateful for that.
Will my profile and website still exist after my time has expired? Do you know?

Hi there,

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate!

Start from doing the training. You'll see everything cleared once you've done the training: By the time you've done Lesson 4, you'll have a website.

When you have your website up and running, you have to write quality content to attract traffics to your site. Then after you have at least 20 quality content, you may apply to join affiliate programs.

Once you applied, they'll check your website if it is suitable to promote their products, has a decent amount of traffics, etc. Upon applying to affiliate programs, you can choose how they can pay you. Some will pay via PayPal, checks, bank transfer, etc.

Then if they approve you, you'll be given access to a dashboard where you can get your affiliate links to be used on your website to promote their products.
Those links are special links that are also called tracking links. You'll be able to see if you make any sales and the commissions you get.

You made a good decision by joining WA. The support system within WA community is awesome. If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask on the discussion or Live Chat.

Success stories: and many more...

This is a slow steady process but with hard work and persistence, we'll get there.

You can stay with your free membership for as long as you want. Using your free starter membership:
1) you will have access to 10 free courses on Level 1 training,
2) get 1 free website with siterubix subdomain owned by WA and be able to manage it for up to 6 months.

However, you will lose the ability to ask questions and communicate within the platform after 7 days.

That said, enjoy your training, ask as many questions as you can, utilize the search engine on top of the page, and see if this platform is for you.

The support system within the community is awesome. You are welcome to ask questions through the Live Chat, the discussion forums under each lesson, and post blogs too within the platform.

Should you decide to upgrade to Premium, you'll pay $19 for the 1st month and will be charged $49 monthly. If you go monthly, it will be $49/month + $13.99/year for your domain name.

If you choose to go annual at $495, then you receive 2 free months over the year as well as your domain name included for a year.
Again, there is no pressure for you to pay for anything or upgrade to Premium right away.

Explore the platform. Enjoy the training! May you achieve the goals you have set with WA.

All the best,
Ferra

Thank you Ferra

Hey Fera,
The quality content, would it be based solely around my "niche?"
And is it possible to affiliate my WA link with these programs even after my 7day trial has expired? As in can I use my rubix link to affiliate?

Hi,

Yes, it would be better to focus on one niche, but you are welcome to promote WA. You can find your affiliate link by clicking the $ sign on the right-hand side top bar. If I am not mistaken, with the starter membership, your commission is half of what premium starter membership gets.

Focusing on one niche is important because you want Google to see your website as an authority in it. It is also good for your website visitors.

As Diane stated above, you can maintain your siterubix site up to 6 months but you won't be able to communicate within the platform after 7 days.

Also, FYI, some affiliate programs won't approve subdomain. That said, it is still possible to make money with a subdomain. It is just a lot harder.

All the best,
Ferra
