There are so many restrictions on wordpress.com. Why not spend a few dollars a year and get a real domain name. Hosting at WA is covered in your premium membership.

Hello,

Yes, you can do this by using the export function in wordpress...
(Also the plugin WPBackup is a good tool to do this.)

I just returned to WA and created my first new website and can't log in. I get an HTTP 500 internal server error.

It's all good, It's all done. Thanks.

I agree with Ekautz you will need to put a support ticket in

I tried to log on to my sites and they worked fine. You'll need to open a support ticket for the http 500 error. Do this under Site Rubix > Site Support.

ROCK ON!

If you get a Siterubix site to rank in the SERPs does it affect the rankings if you change to a domain you own since the URL will be different? Would it then be necessary and is it

I think I also read somewhere here that it is not the name being ranked, it's the content. Do correct if wrong.

If Kyle or Carson thought it would hurt you to switch ---they would not have advised in the lessons you could do it. In the lessons they say it will help to have your own domain.

I asked Kyle about this--- changing SiteRubix to my own domain---
Just 23 days ago
He said,

1 - It ( SiteRubix ) handles all the proper redirects and transfer of content. We do so in a way that is friendly for SEO and meets all specifications.

2 - The domain name does not have to be exactly the same. It can be what you like (obviously it should be relevant and brand-able, it does not have to be exactly the same

Coach Ed

This all I know. I guess I wasn't very clear. I mean if I have a Siterubix that has been up for let's say quite a while and is ranking well in the SERPs. Then switching it out to a .com or other domain.

Hey Randy! From what I have heard from several WA members who have made the switch - yes it will improve using your own domain! But I don't have any personal experience...
Joe

Hey Randy,
If you siterubix is doing well, why not leave it alone and start a new website? Why upset the apple cart, so to speak? Your other site could complement the siterubix.
Best Regards,
Jim

Good advice, but it was a rhetorical question of a future possibility. I was thinking about running with a Siterubix site and only converting it if it started being profitable. -RDub

see Jude has given you the answer hope all goes well for you

Hi Randy. The rankings will indeed be affected as Google would see your own domain as a different site.

It certainly is possible to do a 301 redirect. You can use a redirection plugin. I would redirect it if the rankings and/or visitor levels are high enough on the Siterubix site to warrant it. Might as well not lose any SEO juice you have worked hard to get ~Jude

Hi Jude, I am not quite sure if your opinion is correct. When the site.rubix gets converted to the .??? domain, the system automatically creates a re-direct and the rubix site is basically disappearing.

If I remember correctly, this question came up some months ago, and Kyle/Carson reassured us that the rankings will not be affected

John

I understand what you are saying, John.

I agree with you, if someone transfers the entire content of their siterubix site to their own domain, using the WA one-click transfer, it is taken care of as you say and visitors will be redirected to the same or a similar topic for the page/post/content on the new domain.

The other option is to leave Siterubix as is but redirect only selected well-ranked content that have inbound links and will appear as the same content on the new site. (With a 301 redirect it will not be seen as duplicate). This option is useful if one does not want to carry over low or non-ranked content to the new site.

~Jude

Thanks to everyone for the input and special thanks to Jude and John for clearing this up.

I was also wondering about that. Good question.

Oh DUH! I renamed a page on my site. Then I added the "Redirections" plug in to fix it after the fact. I totally screwed it up and now have a non existent page!

try changing the name back say on one page and see if it makes any difference, you can go to google webmaster and exclude the old url's

If it is still not working you can submit a support ticket to get help

OK I appreciate that.

Try just undoing the steps you took before this happened, sometimes I have to undo and go over it again.. hope you get it worked out

You mean like renaming my page/post the old names?

With the redirection plugin this should work, but it isn't necessary, because even if you change the title (name) of your page, that doesn't change the link, or did you also change the page link?

OK I appreciate that.

Ah you are talking about doing it with code instead of a plugin.

OK which code do I use? I have found a site with code for every code language... so what do I use PHP, CSS, Java, HTML? I'm gonna guess HTML.

Create a page with the same title as the one you trashed
Then put the re-direct code in the content field. Check "exclude page ....". Publish and that's it.

Stay calm, try to solve the problem with patience.

I have been let know it's no big deal. I was getting an error code from Bing's webmastrer tools saying multiple h1 tags on my pages/posts.

Leo told me all pregenerated titles are h1 and not to worry about it. So I'm going with that.

Stupid tools anyway!

do not know anything about this particular theme, also try in the live chat, someone was able to help me the other day.. Have a look at this see if it can help:

Yep that has nothing to do with title sizes and I'm good to go anyway.

So you are good now??

Why is this text so huge? Font size issue fixed... I actually included the h1 tag in the text of my question. Didn't realize I could do that.

I think you accidentally posted it on headline 1 font. Also, I got no clue how to change the page fonts on Wordpress.

BigD-would that be instead of WordPress? Can you use both together? I had to confess-I have no idea what your question was about.
