I added a pic for my profile and it occupies the whole screen. I am new at wordpress and I can't seem to find a picture editor option.

I am sure someone can poinnt me exac

Thanks everybody for your great help! BigDaddyFred

When I started with WP coming from other platforms, I think this is what I hated most. Remember the WordPress core is very old. It does not have the capabilities of some of the more Modern tools like Weebly... but there is usually a way. If the pic is in your media library on the right side there will be a SCALE option. You will see 2 numbers these are pixel dimensions.. Reduce the first number by 75% and press enter... this will change the other number. (1000 to 250) Save it and look at the results. You may have to play with the numbers to get it to the size that you want it. Outside of WP there are many tools that you can use to reduce it.

Large images slow down your website's loading time waaaaay toooo muuuuch. I always reduce my images BEFORE I upload them to the website. I hope this helps. ~Marion

Hi I've also used http://apps.pixlr.com/editor/ which is a free online editor and useful for adjusting and resizing all kinds of graphics

I use Microsoft Picture manager to reduce the size below 200 kB, and additionally also some other like the one mentioned by Tanja, which then makes it usually below 100 kB.
Here are some useful tutorials which you might use:

Click on photo and click the corner and drag to minimize

The trouble with doing this is that the actual image size stays the same, just the visual changes, so if you shrink a large image this way, you are still placing a large image on your site. So if and image was 250mb in real size, even in a smaller VISUAL size, it would still be 250mb.

So you can do it through upload. upload your image and on the right hand side at the bottom it will say thumbnail small, medium full size click small or thumbnail which will make it smaller.

You can also resize it in the file or folder from which you downloaded to Wordpress.

You can do as Ramir suggested below, or you can also click on the image and grab one of the arrows on the corners, and pull diagonally in or away, to reduce or enlarge the image.

Hi, just click on the picture to select it, you will see and edit button, in the shape of a little pen, click that button then you will see the picture size options

I shrink all my pictures with tinypng.com first (works for png and jpeg). You can also select the size of the picture within wordpress. Click on the picture and then click on the pencil to edit. Then in the display settings click on the size drop down menu. You can select thumbnail or any of the other choices (custom size being one of them).

Hope that helps

I have a couple thousand facebook friends. When I try to post a link to WA I get admin telling me that mlm, pyramid schemes, etc are against policy.

I put in a note to the

great blog cheers Helen

I would continue to post info abouthe WA in FB include your business email and ask those interested in WA to send you an email. FB is real funny about allowing links. Unless you pay for their advertising. That's the rough to take though...that way you know the contacts you get are really interested.

I agree. The funny thing in this case is it was a paid post tht got disapproved. Go figure. UPDATE... Just checked, they are serving my ad!

Good for you. Your responding is what bring result. A lesson we all should note.

Great news! I just got this from the Facebook team.......

"Hi Fred,

Thanks for following up on this. It appears your ads were mistakenly disapproved, and we've re-reviewed and approved them. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this caused."

Score one for WA!

Possibly this will lead to Facebook taking WA out of the "pyramid, get rich quick scam" bag

Determination always pays off....glad FB finally got it straight especially when it is a paid advertisment. FB can be absolute...well we all know

the biggest hustle out thereis how to make money online. 70 percent of the people will pay the fee but never do anything. the fees are generally much higher than the WA fees. Facebook defines a pyramid scheme as someone at the top making money directly from contributions of people below them in the scheme.

And they don't give anything in return ie good training, hints etc.

Right. Funny though, I have always maintained that every business is a "pyramid" by that definition.... Person at the top makes most of the money defines a corporation, partnership, single proprietorship....

Somehow I am pretty sure that the CEO of General Electric makes more than an assembly-line worker :) Just sayin... Thanks for the good point.

Yes but they take and carry more risks!

that is the story that every MLM operative puts out. kind of a self justification more of the BS

Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I never joined a business I didn't believe in, never had anyone in my downline that I didn't work like crazy for, and trained them how to do an honest business. Also, not trying to justify myself or anyone else. And, much of my life, I was a business owner and I did make more money than the people that worked for me.

Many of the people that speak badly about MLM's are people that really believed they could do nothing and make money, which flies in the face of good sense. Anyway, I love WA partly because it trains ex MLM operatives something I always knew. Treat others well and you will be treated well. Kinda like karma or the Golden Rule.

And again, this was a post about the greatness of WA, not about MLM's. Restated.... When FB review team actually had to take a closed look at WA, they had to admit it is a legitimate business. That is all we need to focus on and I thought it might help brand new members make a quicker and better decision.

I wasn't referring to the MLM CEOs!

A while back when I was making my first website robsans.com (sells petsupplies) I tried to post my site to my friends as well. They didn't like that so much back then. But they suggested using their web page to promote my business, so I did. www.facebook.com/Robsans. While I haven't done this myself for WA but I bet that would work OK. If you want you can even use their promotional tools as well. Just a thought. :)

Sounds like a great idea! Thanks@!

I paste links from my website on FB now. The thing is that you need your FB OG Image and Meta to be what you want which is digging into your page or post SEO settings. I am finally just getting the hang of it. Go to a post and type in your website name using http:// __. com and see what pops up. You can change the post option to "only me" so only you see it until you get it right.

Great idea. Thanks I will try that!
BDF

MLM or not they all may be banning direct affiliate links in the not to distant future. I think Pinterest already does. Link to a page on your site about WA and from that page link to WA.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I tried to post my website to Facebook using the share buttons, I got no response so not sure if my family and friends actually know to click on the picture since I did not state that - so not sure about facebook:(

Yea, Facebook can be a bit draconian and pays not to get to far offside with them. Have had and seen problems as a developer as well and they can become very hard to deal with.

You can build a post and have your WA link in there. Then distribute the post via FB with a bit of commentary. This is how I handle FB.

If you don't want to do it as part of your site you can do it via streetarticles, com or just create a blog on WA and post the URL to that on FB with a bit of a commentary.

Thanks!

I have tried http://www.bigdaddyfred.com (which is working here but not on my pro

No-one is permitted to put links in their profile page except in the space reserved for listing websites. This is to protect WA members from the occasional newbie who wants to spam us. So all is as it should be. ~Marion

Thanks, Marion. I may be dreaming when I thought I had it there before and it worked :) Now when you refer to the "space reserved for listing websites, where is that. Thanks again! Whoops I just answered my own question. You are referring to the site rubix, correct?

Try this Big Daddy. The attached image is how I see my profile page yours will look the same to you.

Thanks, Marion. Gotcha!!!!

Looks fine to me! I went directly to your site.

On my profile? Because it is not working for me

I have seen differences between the text and visual boxes when adding links. I don't know if its real but it seems like it is.

I have an external site and I would like my blog to automatically appear there. It is asking for the URL of my blog or rs feed. This is not my area of expertise. Would appreciat

I hope you found a solution to your blog url. Your website is cool and I love mushrooms my favourite is the oyster mushrooms

Love oyster mushrooms. My fave right now is one I wild harvested yesterday. My first VERY cautious eating of a wild mushroom. I did the research and still ate only a small amount and am still breathiing 24 hours later!

I see you are using Website Builder via GoDaddy. I used to host my site on GoDaddy so I have used their site editor. Anyway, your Wordpress blog should come with an rss link or URL. The GoDaddy site editor should have a function for inserting an rss feed so you can automatically send your Wordpress posts directly to your GoDaddy website. I need to see your Wordpress blog home page in order to find the URL to configure the GoDaddy editor for your website. Please let me know where to find your Wordpress blog. Thanx ... GrampaMike

I'd like to help you diagnose this problem. First, I need to see your Wordpress blog. Can you tell me where I can view your home page?
... GrampaMike

I found out. I went straight to building my niche site on a website I already owned. The builder won't include a feed from another site.

FYI: Google has a utility called FeedBurner where you can take an RSS feed from any site offering an RSS feed and convert that into an HTML code you can insert into your website. I know SiteBuilder is capable of letting you insert HTML code. I did it with SiteBuilder before. Hope that helps ... GrampaMike

Thanks, Mike. I will check it out!
BDF

Well I do not have your answer though I like your site! :) Except that I wish the background area in the comments section was not dark.

Thanks Christa. I have lot of work to do on the site, and I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks, BDF

You're welcome! :)

I don't quite understand. What blog should automatically appear where?

If its looking for an rs feed that would typically be www.yourwebaddress.com/feed

By default your blog roll is on your home page so unless you have changed this it would just be your web address.

Tried it, wouldn't work.... But Thanks, BDF

The url is what you just posted in the hyperlink. It's what appears in the browser when your site loads up.

Thanks TheOldSilly. Tried that and doesn't work. It might be a GoDaddy problem, so I will call them. Thanks! BDF

Hi Folks: I have been in WA since Feb 2015. I am working hard trying to build a base and get training. Each day my rank has lowered until 2 days ago when I seemed to have platea

I don't put much effort into my rank because I think my lower rank indicates I'm spending more time here at WA and less time on developing my passive revenue stream/marketing campaigns on my website.

Just a thought ... GrampaMike

Good point, Papa

Hi Fred, you're doing great! For more info on how to rank and what to do, try this: .

I find that staying active, posting, helping others consistently keeps you moving consistently. I'm not sure when they update but I notice that I'll stay at a ranking for a few days or so and then I jump again.

While ranking is great, the goal is to build great websites and help others do the same. It all works out if you keep going!

Best of luck to you!

I don't think your missing anything. I try not to put too much emphasis on WA rank. It is nice to have a good rank, and in some ways is an indicator of how much effort you are putting into this. All of that is great and feels good, but the bottom line is, how much traffic are you getting to your money making site, after all, that is our primary goal here right? Just keep doing what your doing, which I would say is pretty good.

They update your rank at their convenience.

Consider the following: In a community of hundreds of thousands, there are only the 316 most active and helpful members above you. I'd say you're within the 0,005% top members. Mine's been stuck at 1168 for a while, and I'm assuming for good reason.

Nothing is wrong, there is no such think as a plateau. it is easy to understand. If those around you are active like you then you will not move with respect to them.
Not worth thinking about, do what you usually do.

Hi Fred! I know what you mean. It looks like they do not update ranking at the same time everyday - though it looks like they try!

Well, I am satisfied beng where I am, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks for your help!
