Another Question?

Oh boy! I am plugging away about 10 hours a day, and I constantly run into problems. I do not see anyone else asking some of these questions?? I cannot believe I am the only one...Oh, well. We have 3 older websites and one brand new one. The 3 older sites were getting a fair amount of traffic, and then all of a sudden, BAM! NOTHING!!

My husband noticed when we went to log into our sites, there was a gray triangle with an exclamation point in the middle of it. This was located where the "lock" usually is just before "https" in the search bar. It is on all 3 websites. When you click on it, it says something to the effect that the site is not secure! Well, no wonder we aren't getting any traffic! He also went to a program in Firefox called HTTPS something?? Cannot remember the name. I will check later? Anyway, when we run the program it says there are over 1,000 problems with our websites?? W-H-A-T?? We are completely stumped! We have no idea what to do at this point.

Is there anyone out there that is really experienced that can answer this for us?

I actually just saw something in my Facebook feed this morning regarding this. I believe it was an article from Wired magazine regarding Google making good on its promise to label HTTP sites as "Not secure".

https://www.wired.com/story/google-chrome-https-not-secure-label/

The hosting here at WA does offer Site SSL, so make sure you have that enabled on all sites you have hosted here. When you go under the details for your site on the Site Dashboard, there is a button to click to enable SSL. Hopefully, that solves the issue.

I checked all of my sites, and as far as I can tell, SSL is enabled on all sites. The button is green, so I am assuming that means it is enabled?? I am having my husband read the above article you referenced. We will keep working on this?? Thanks for the help.

Hmm, if it's enabled, it may not hurt to reach out to Site support. Maybe they can check things on their side as well. Just to be safe :-)

The same thing happened to me, Connie. I contacted SiteSupport and they fixed it right away! All sites are now transforming to https.

Erin :)!

Thanks Erin! I was about to lose my mind! We were so overwhelmed with this problem. I did not want to contact support until I was sure it was something they could help with? I wanted to make sure we had not caused the problem. I am going to put in a support ticket now. Thanks for letting me know you had the same problem. WHEW! I did not screw it up!

It's all good, Connie. Hope it all works out for you!

Erin :)!

Type https in the search bar above.

I did, and that is where the problem arises.???

How come? You will see trainings explaining how to make the site secure.
