Hey akune, not sure if anyone can really answer that, but what do I know, I've only been around for a short time. The way I think about it is it's really more niche specific rather than overall marketing. For example, most of the things I get involved in are geared to a specific population. I tend to deal with the Baby Boomer generation, and the LGBT Community. When I want to look at trends, I'll look at my group that I'm targeting, like last night I came across an article from Forbes, "7 reasons why marketing to Baby Boomers is Unique" Things like, they have money to spend, they invented the suburbs and don't plan on leaving or downsizing, many even want to go upscale, they exhibit brand loyalty like no other group ...... finding things like this gives me the trends to follow, with the hope that if I concentrate on promoting directly into their field of vision, hopefully success. Don't know if this really answers your question, but it's how I try to analyze the trends. Know your audience and what they want to see and hear about.
Hi Akune, nice to hear from you! I posted this three years ago. Definitely, a lot of things have emerged in internet and affiliate marketing since then. Lately, I listened to the "machine" process map which is an email marketing. There is the LeadPages, MLM for Melaleuca products, and a lot more. But in my researches, most of these marketers would only want our money. We have to spend a lot more without getting any help on how to build our own online business and make it profitable. In some cases, there is no support at all.
If you notice, around here we are always updated in terms of building our business. We don't need to hire anybody to create our own for us. We get more than enough support and help in everything we need to know and need to do to make our business successful. It can be in any niche that we are passionate about. Here @ Wealthy Affiliate, we have all the benefits and all the support that we need to enhance our online business.

I would say focusing on the affiliate formula - find out what people need or desire and put the solution in front of them. All the best

I just read James Colton ' essay. He makes a lot of sense. In fact that's all the more reason you should look into Periscope and blab. They are tools to build your business. Look at them as a mean to grow your following and traffic. I'm not suggesting you get hooked on just watching passively.
Well, for now I have to be a little bit passive. Knowing myself, I can get hooked so easily. But I have finals to prepare for so I can graduate this summer. And that's it!!! I can concentrate on my online business. This will be my full-time job come summer! Yay for me! Can't wait to fire my boss.
