Hi you awesome WAs ! =)

I'd love it if you could share your experience with "page rank checkers"! I was wondering if there should be a difference between google/yahoo/bing results and what these "page rank checkers" tell you?

For example if I type in some keywords on google, I will see my website appear in the first page. Sometimes the second. But then earlier today, I tried this page rank checker (http://checkpagerank.net/index.php) to see my ranking on google and it said I am not ranked at all -_- how rude! lol

Just thought I'd share this and perhaps learn from your experience !

Thanks !!

Cheers =)

Sarah

Good tool for my toolkit. Thanks a bunch. Have a nice day!

I use www.whatpageofsearchamion.com and it is usually pretty accurate to google.

Wow, this is cool. Thanks for sharing.

No problem. Glad I could help.

You are awesome! =)

Thanks!!!

really nice tool, thanks.

great tool, thanks!

Thank you for the sharing. Great tool

No problem my friend. All the best to you.

Sarah, if you check on the ranking of your posts/pages, do it in incognito mode or use this tool to get the correct results

thanks a lot!! =)=)

Oh flip.....all a bit over my head at the moment!
Talk about a sharp learning curve, oh well...back to it!!

I think there should really take much to get a pagerank at all but it will come when there are enough articles on the first page. I use Jaaxy to see how my articles do

you are right, thanks !

Greetings Sarah!

Specific page rankings will vary, based on which search engine is used, the location associated with your IP address, your past search history, etc.

You can try to keep the rankings as clean as possible by using the incognito or private mode of your browser. You're just looking for an overall trend to see how well you're doing over time.

Even that doesn't tell the tale though. You should be watching the traffic count to your site to see how your efforts are paying off... and beyond that, keep track of your conversion rate to measure your success - and your income!

you're absolutely right ! thanks for sharing !

That's intimidating to hear, my site is still very new and I get the not ranked as I expected to, but is there a way to find more accurate results?

You shouldn't worry too much about your ranking at the moment, since your website is still very new. I am sure we'll get answers on here! =)

Your right, I'll keep an eye out ;)

The most accurate is to do incognito check in Chrome or Mozilla.

I'll give it a try thanks! =)

There's a big difference between turning up on the first page of a Google search and page rank or PR. Google itself has a perfect page rank, or maximum score, of 10. I believe WA has a PR of three. I remember my elation when my first website earned a score of 1, I.e. Just breaking into the ranking system. PR is based primarily on links, not just the number do links to your sit but the quality of those links. A link from a website with PR 6 counts in a big way, while a link from an unranked site not so much. There are numerous articles on the web which explain PR in much more detail.I

thank you for the very interesting and enlightening explanations !

Then what's the significance of PR? As long as my site appear on the first page in Google, that's all I want, right? Or not right?

excellent question, to which I'd love an answer as well lol =)

I think the PR has more to do with the authority your site is rated at by Google (not sure about the other SE), but there is a way to make that "egal" (unimportant) as we say in German.

If you do a good keyword search, and select those keywords with little competition, then prepare original relevant content that has these keywords sprinkled in it, as described here and elsewhere, over time you will get those coveted top 3 rankings for Google searches when people use those keywords in their search.

I have been doing research on my own keywords so I can plan for future articles, and that is what I am focusing on. Yes you want the first page, preferably in one of the top three spots! Just my take...Please someone, tell me if I am off-base : )

I have noticed that as well. I am going to stay in the loop to see some answers. I felt it was pretty rude also:)

lol thanks for the comforting words

I'm bookmarking this thread because I'm fuzzy on all these distinctions. Let's learn en masse.

exactly

Here is a good article from Wikipedia which explains the algorithm for PR, page rank: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank. Just remember that page rank is not the same as what page your site will turn up on in a search. PR is ONE element used to sort out the order of sites listed in a search. It may also help to remember that "page" in page rank stands for its creator Larry Page (one of the founders of Google) as well as for web page. Since we are optimizing for specific keywords, SERP (search engine ranking placement) is more important than PR.

Thanks for this.
