My 1st Two Years and Recent Sales

It's been an incredible 2-year journeys so far. I started out on fire, had some family issues, and job relocation that distracted me for almost a year, and now I have re-focused and chose a new niche.

I had hoped to be making some great money within the first year but I chose a niche that wasn't on fire, so to speak, and then my family and job issues took my attention away which contributed to me not creating content for a significant amount of time.

I chose a new niche, and as you can see from the image above, it's about Hiking Emergency Beacons. I started this site in August 2019, and it was 5 months ago as of the writing of this article.

Again, I was hoping for some significant sales within 3 or 4 months, and when I say significant, I mean at least $500 per month, but as you all know, things don't always move as fast as we hope, plus this business is a long term business and I have heard many times that things really start breaking open for many people after they have been in business for about 1 year.

Here's where I am today, after 5 months with my hikingemergencybeacon.com site.

In the last 3 weeks, I have had 4 significant sales of high priced items ($350 or more), which has proven to me that people will buy these satellite messengers through my site.

People who buy these devices do a lot of research before buying, so I have to really break down the reviews and provide a lot of information to people. I have actually chosen to purchase the beacons before making a lot of money through my site as I need to have the devices in hand and truly test them and compare them, instead of relying on what other people say about them.

The Bottom Line

I have only made around $60 since starting this site, 5 months ago, but I am encouraged as this niche has a lot of interest from outdoor adventurers and I have seen several high priced satellite messengers sell already.

The Future Plan

It doesn't matter if it takes me 5 years to build up these sites and for me to become an established expert in this market. I am in this for the long haul.

I love getting out into the mountains, here in Colorado, to hike and test these emergency beacons, and then writing and creating videos. I never thought I would like it as much as I do.

I'm only hoping that I make enough money so I can stop working as an engineer and do this full time.

The magic pill for me: the right niche, dedication, consistency, training, and hard work...creating valuable content + keeping my site professional and not full of ads or over the top selling.

Hi Richard, sounds like a change of niche was a perfect choice for you. We joined WA around the same time, and like you I have had work and family issues, in the mix.
I have struggled with the MMO niche and just a few weeks ago, set up a new website and chose a different niche. Your post has made me feel a little more confident and encouraged, with the decision.
I am happy that you are enjoying your new niche, and am wishing you much success.

All the best
Jenny

Thanks Jenny. It's important to stick with your niche long enough to give it time to succeed, but sometimes we need to change it up. I still have my two older niches, but I only add maybe 1 article per month, whereas my 2 new niches get 2 or more articles each week at a minimum for both of them.

It's a lot of work, but I am also encouraged because the interest if off the charts different then my first 2 niches.

Let's keep focused because it will happen if we stick with the training and be consistent in creating our content.

I am more motivated then ever and things feel like they're about ready to break lose for me now.

Rick

Yes it's always hard work Rick, but so much easier when you are happy and enthusiastic about your niche.

Things sound like they are going great, and I am sure this is going to be a great success for you. Keep us updated, once in a while:)

All the best

That's awesome, Richard! It seems like you're building a solid foundation upon which to build your business, my friend! 👍👍😎

Thank you. I'm really working on having a professional site that will last for years.

Rick

That's the best way to do it, my friend! 👍👍

Good on you. Hope you get more of it.

Well done you!
Congratulations!

Hi Rick, Your site looks great! Well done! When I looked at your bio pic I thought it sure looks like Colorado with the Continental Divide in the background so I had to check your profile...It was!

My Magic pill? Same as you but I use my website more as a hub which links to Amazon from FB and Pinterest ads. I focus more on PPC and Sponsored Ads on Amazon for my own product which will be my own Brand soon.

I started a few weeks ago and am averaging 2 sales a day. 5 is my short term goal and 10 would be plenty until I feel I need to scale up.

Regards,

Mike

I have tried PPC a few times but haven't found what works yet, yet keeps the cost within reason. I can get a lot of attention but the cost is to high.
