Giants In The Land
So often we start a good work and fall short of our goal because we accept/believe a negative report from someone close to us. My father told me when I was a teenager, “those closest to you will often try to hold you back. Not because they don’t want you to succeed, but because they are concerned that you may fail.” I believe in checking both ways before crossing the street, but once you have verified that it is good, then go and don’t let anyone stop you!
In a very old book, I read about a group of people that were promised a land of their own. This land was described as flowing with milk and honey. Sounds good doesn’t it?
After a very long journey, suffering through many hardships and trials, they arrived outside of their promised land. The leader of the people selected a party of 12 prominent citizens to go and spy out the land. They were to see who was there and the fruit of the land. So the spies went out and return after an appointed time. They each reported back to the leader. Out of the 12, eleven reported that, though the land had milk and honey, there were giants to large to conquer. One person said, the land truly flows of milk and honey. Though there are some giants, surely we can over take them and claim that which was promised to us! Because the people believed the bad report of giants, it was 40 years before they had another chance to enter the land.
Isn’t this often true even for us? We work and endure so much labor and sacrifice, only to be told by friends or loved ones that we are spinning our wheels or banking on a pipe dream. In this story, only 1 out of 12 people gave a favorable report. If you can see the land and its bounty, whose reports will you chose to believe? If we concentrate on the giants, before long we lose sight of the milk and honey.
Have faith in yourself and your creator. We have the tools needed within Wealthy Affiliate and the support from its community to conquer the giants in our land!
