WP Tip Understanding Permalinks
Hello all, thought I would give you all a little tutorial in permalinks
What are permalinks?
Permalinks means permanent links, they are the URL that goes to your paost of page when you publish your content, to this end they play a big role in SEO and how google finds your content.
They are a small but really important part of your content creation in the eyes of google
Always check your permalinks before you publish and don't change them once you have published your content You can edit your permalink with the edit button but only do this before you publish.
They appear in your snippet, this type of thing is easy to miss or forget so pay attention to detail as they are important, remember google does not see web sites it sees web pages only.
Each URL is unique and your permalink gives google the exact URL to your page or post
To set your permalinks go to settings>>permalinks and you can set them up.

Hi Barry. I am not clear about the difference between a title, a permalink and a meta title.
I have seen trainings that say you can set a permalink URL with your keywords in it...and then create an enticing title not necessarily containing the keywords ..and then add a meta description too.
What do you think?
That's true. Your permalink (URL) does not necessarily have to be the same as your post title. And it's always wise to add a meta-description (what those searching on your keywords would see) that would lead people to click on your article rather than another.
Thank you. So I can set the permalink title by save draft and then write the awesome headline in the title box at top of new post or should I put the awesome headline in the title box below post?
Yes you can do all those things I prefer the keywords to go in the permalink and also the meta description
