Reached 12 years sober on Saturday
Hello to you all, its a very long time since I wrote a blog but I thought I would share my 12 years of sobriety with you all.
In the last 12 years I have been to hell and back trying to rebuild my life, since the 02 April 2004, I have been clean and sober and in that time I have stopped smoking achieved an A level in maths, come out if the navy, built an electrical business, the beginnings of a web design business and in addition to that, about 8 years of work with professional therapists, dealing with past abuse as both a child and an adult.
I have confronted 2 types of PTSD as well as depression, I have cried an ocean and laughed deeply from my belly. There have been times coming through depression and PTSD that I thought I was loosing my sanity and the throuhgts of suicide have been a regular companion.
Today I feel that I am on the last leg of my therapeutic journey and am at last beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, with reference to my mental health
Mental health is so difficult because so few people understand it and so many people think they can cure it.
It should be said, that to the credit of wealthy affiliate, I have, over that last two years received the most enthusiastic and genuine support from many who populate this website
There is however one great benefit from having had to over come so much, it has taught me the power of faith and persistence and if there is on trait that makes people successful in business its faith and persistence
I will finish by saying this, if you want a successful web business, its is not your website that will create it but rather your faith and persistence in your niche and your self that will lead you to success
Its the power of your own human spirit that will lead you to where you want to go not just your blog, but your own belief in it, that matters, in short
YOU ARE YOUR BUSINESS, BECAUSE YOU ARE YOUR LIFE.
WE GET WHAT WE ARE, NOT WHAT WE WANT!!

Many congratulations! I also suffer from PTSD and depression and you're right about how misunderstood it is and how it should be treated. You should be extremely proud to be the survivor you are. Again, congratulations!

Barry you have my utmost respect for having faced, and then come through, many adverse times in your life. Myself and my 2 daughters both suffer with depression and associated problems. I hope things will continue to improve for you :)
