An Attitude of gratitude

Hello everybody, Just thought I would wish you all a happy Easter weekend, what ever you are up to

I have been spending mine in the planning stages of my web site, which will be called myiphoneuserguide.com

I have made a mind map of all the pages and content, I really want to get this right, so I have decided not to try and achieve everything overnight but instead put a lot of effort into the planning stages of my website and marketing campaigns.

Its very tempting to try and rush success but it rarely works, so I have stuck to my mantra of this - Always make long term decisions.

As some of you know from my blog, I am a recovering alcoholic and I reached the 10 year sober milestone only a few weeks ago and I have been reflecting over the past 10 years of my journey in recovery.

I was thinking, is there one ingredient that is always present in order to create success in anything you do and I have come to the conclusion that gratitude is the one overwhelming factor that has kept me sober of the 10 years of my recovery

I have been to hell and back in the last 10 years as I am also recovering from many years of mental and emotional abuse while I served in the Royal Navy for 23 years, I used alcohol to cope with the pain.

I have been in therapy now for 8 years and it still continues as I grow through my pain and find my way in this life.

My aim is simple, Its just to become the person I was born to be, rather that the person than was abused and belittled for a whole lifetime.

Gratitude is for me, the greatest influence over my life and remaining grateful for what I have rather than what I don't yet have, is the number one tool in my arsenal.

There are many things wrong in this world, but I feel that there is so little focus on all the good things that go on and all the unsung heroes that are helping make this world a better place for all of us

Focusing on "wanting what I have" rather "having what I want" is the main philosophy in my life.

I wish you all a very happy Easter, and don't forget, if you get bogged down or overwhelmed on your journey here at WA, just take a deep breath step away from your computer for a little while and write a gratitude list, you will be amazed the effects this has on your perspective when your are feeling low

As I write this blog, I know that many people in the world are sleeping rough tonight and many children have not had anything to eat today, so be grateful for what you have and the people that love and care about you

Congratulations on your success on lives many journey's I have to say I do not want to wake up on any given day and not be grateful for what I have. See nomari357 speaks of the song sung by Susan Boyle it is a lovely song... but she is Scottish lol hope you had a good easter did not get on to WA over Easter was with family.. take care and keep up the good progress

Congratulations on your 10 year sobriety anniversary! If you can beat that monster back, then you can be successful here at WA.

Susan Boyle from England wrote and sang a beautiful song titled, "Who I was Born To Be..." I encourage you to listen to it and be encouraged by it.

We are not defined by our past, but moulded by it for our future. I am sorry for the pain that you have suffered in your life and I wish you well. May God bless you this Easter and keep you free from suffering.

Thanks for this message, Barry!

I wish you continued success and God's grace to overcome life's challenges.

Ade

respect, liked, and warmest wishes for your future journey, Andy

Hi Barry, Very uplifting post and happy for your achievement. God is gracious and I wish you every success ahead!

Hi Barry. It seems that you have went through terrible times and I am sorry that you had those experiences in the Navy. That must have been very degrading for you and then drinking on top of that,it just goes to show you every body has a story and there not always nice ones.
You will be better because you have lived through difficult times, this will only make you a stronger person and you will be successful here;If I were to bet who would make it here you would be one of the people I would highlight.Your good times have yet to come, all good things come to those who wait and you have clearly demonstrating by your blogs that you know what you are all about.
Great success to you here.Mark......

Very wise words to remember. It does make a person feel better to think of all that we do have rather than wanting something so much they forget about what they already have. No matter how bad we think our situation, there's always others in worse ones.
Best wishes in all you do and have a happy Easter, Barry

WOW Baz that was a amazing blog, firstly congratulations on the amazing achievement of 10 years sober. I have first hand experience of this with my brother who has thankfully been sober for 18 years now. So well done sir! you deserve a big pat on the back. Secondly you are so right about taking a out of the box view of a persons problems. What seems like a problem to us is seen like a paradise to a homeless destitute person with no family or friends. Thank you so much for helping us see that. Best wishes Alan

Amen

Congratulations for your 10 years and Happy Easter .
