Sorry I really don´t know :/

Sorry, Ihave not had that problem...

I know you said you are running the same plugins on both of your sites but only one is experiencing a problem. Plugins are a funny thing. They can result in a conflict on one site and not another simply because of a different theme, or settings, or the order they were installed.

Your problem is likely a conflict between plugins. You are going to have to do some troubleshooting. I would start by disabling all of the plugins on the misbehaving site to see if the problems go away. If it does, then you know it is a plugin issue. Then enable the plugins one by one to find the culprit.

If it doesn't go away with all of the plugins off then it may be a setting within your theme. Try a different theme just as a test.

Yes, I know that plug-ins can behave peculiar. I have to disable them to see who is the culprit. I have the same theme on both sites, Pagelines.

Did you make the old posts sticky?

No, I don't use sticky posts.

I am not sure then. That was the only thing I could think of that might cause the post to keep showing up on the top of your blog

Don't know the answer, but would like too.
Brenda

I haven't had that problem on my site either. Maybe it's in your appearance settings. You can set the posts arrangement in your settings.

Hmmm, I haven't had this problem.

Why do I get spam when my site is not listed on any search engine? How do spammers find my site? Do they try every IP-number?

I see you have received your answer---Great !!!

Thank you Wark & RICH. I have no problem determine spam from regular comment, I was just curious of how they can find my site so fast. I use the GASP plugin, but some spam sneak by apparently.

GASP will only stop robotic spam, it doesn't deter the human variety who can tick the checkbox. Akismet should then filter anything that gets past GASP. :) R.

Hi - whenever a site is registered, spammers will soon get a hold of your URL.

It's just the way things are - so best advice is to get used to it, and recognise what is spam and what isn't. (attached ZIP files for example, unexpected emails from PayPal, Amazon, IRS etc). Don't panic when you see the first few - just get to know them - normally same type of subjects, a lot sent at the same time etc.

Make sure you install Akismet etc as per the training - so that you don't end up getting spammed in your comments too.

If you suspect it is spam, there is a very high probability it is.

All the best, Mark

Yup, and they scrape new domain registrations, social networks, etc. I'd recommend you install both GASP http://wordpress.org/plugins/growmap-anti-spambot-plugin/ and Akismet https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/protect-your-site-from-spam-use-akismet :) Rich.

This tool can save some time for you. goo.gl URL Shortener: http://goo.gl/BMfMU

I happen to use chrome. Nice little app. Thanks

Actually it's just http://goo.gl/ and takes you straight to the URL shortener :)

Exactly! You don't have to type that in ;-) And you don't have to type any captcha code either.

Why bog down your site with another plugin...goo.gl is readily accessible with your browser.

It's for your browser, not for the blog. It can save some copy and paste time.

Nice tool. Save a lot of copy and paste time.

I begin to like Google+ more and more. If you have a new page/post you want to share but no group or circle that's would be interested. Share the page/post publicly and add a ha

Other people can find you through the hashtag too, even if they didn't get your posts initially . Just do a search in Google+ for any hashtag and you see what I mean.

Need to learn more about hashtags....Thanks!

Yes that is the easy way but there will come a time that you will want to build a circle of your target audience. But for now you can do what you suggest.

I would just add that instead of sending it Public which doesn't send it to everyone on Google + but only to everyone who has added you to a circle, you should also send it to "Extended Circles" which will send it to everyone in your circles plus every person in their circles.

If you would like see 31 tips for using Google Plus click on and bookmark the link at the bottom of my blog post here. - https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/boomergp08/blog/useful-tips-for-using-google-plus

Thank you boomergp08, I did not know that. There's so much to read and learn so it's nice to be here at WA. It's a shortcut in your learning.

Thanks for the tip, I'm just getting the hang of Google+. Still don't know what to do with it.

Hmmm, very nice bit of info... never even thought about it! Thank ya' Anders!!!

Hello my friends

Can someone tell me the best strategy on using long tail keywords in page/post names. If for example my keywords are "dog backpack video". Is it better to

Thank you croninweb. If you go for to long keyword you get low competition but not much traffic.

I was up on last pos on page 2 (but not for the video kw), but now I'm on page 8. I don't know if it's for the videos, 4 in all. All starting with "dog backpack video -...", or arranging my links to one review page where I put all affiliation links.

I know that by adding a dash then a keyword phase that matches what people do search with can get your post to rank for both on their own like ( dog backpack video - The best dog backpack ) now you could rank for all of it and you have a shot at ranking for both on their own--- ho, by the way --the video needs to about or include the best one in your eyes for it to work ----That would give you three shots at ranking--

1-( dog backpack video - The best dog backpack )
2- ( dog backpack video )
3- ( The best dog backpack )

I think --hope this helped --

Thank you croninweb, I see what you mean.

you welcome--also I did get the best one from keyword search here Wa tool and it gets about 125 searches a month --you can try it to !!!

Have you checked your keyword in that way , with a longer name ? Is it more or less searches on it, if it gives you more searches maybe it´s good to make it longer.

Thomas

I guess I have to wait and see. I'm on page 2/3, it fluctuates, with "dog backpack benefits" and on page 4 with "dog backpack video". Where my main keyword is "dog backpack", and my site is not in the top 30 pages with that. I better write some articles ;-)

Ok :)
