St. Louis Blues Win Stanley Cup!
My hometown erupted in a sea of blue today and rightly so, I believe. After 52 years we have the prized Stanley Cup in St. Louis, Missouri. Hockey fan or not, it is an event to celebrate.
The Blues wrestled the prize from the Boston Bruins Wednesday night, June 12, and St.Louis has been in party mode ever since the plane bringing the players home landed early Thursday morning.
It's a well deserved celebration, since St. Louis has waited 52 years for this day.
The Blues, based in St. Louis, is part of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League. The Franchise, founded in1967 is one of the 6 teams from the 1967 NHL Expansion and is named after the W.C. Handy song, "St. Louis Blues."
The dream of Hockey players, both past and present as well as St. Louis Hockey fans, has been to win the Stanley Cup. It took 52 years, but the dream finally has been realized.
There is a lesson here, I think. If something is worth working, hoping, dreaming, praying for, don't ever give up because it's taking too long. How long is too long? Some people give up too soon. If you give up today, the very next day may have been the day you were working toward. And now you'll never know what might have been.
Now that the Blues have the Stanley Cup, their new goal is to keep it in St. Louis. Go Blues!

For one night I was a Blues fan, as I too wanted the cup in St. Louis instead of Boston. Congratulations on a well deserved win. Back to back is pretty tough, but a good goal to have.
