Unless you are a hermit or have been asleep for the past five or ten years, you have read or heard about Coronavirus, or Covin-19. If you live somewhere in the United States, you most likely have heard or read about this term, Shelter in place.

To back up just a bit, the world seems to be in the grip of a Pandemic, that appears to have originated in China late last year. Coronavirus is a virulent strain that roars through populations with no medications or vaccine to stop it. Our human natural immune system doesn't slow it down.

The loss of life in European countries has been devastating. By early January of this year a number of people in our westernmost states had contracted the virus.

Coronavirus is very contagious and most dangerous to people over 60 and those who have certain medical conditions. Some people may be carriers of the virus but never actually succumb to it. Our government has launched an all out effort to contain and stop this virus from running amok through the population with a many pronged attack.

While doctors and pharmaceutical companies are working on testing people and discovering a vaccine, health organizations have come up with a number of ways that we, as individuals can combat the spread.

A number of large cities, counties and now states, have elected to put into force a plan to reduce human contact in hopes to slow the virus, and ultimately the number of people being infected. The effort has been dubbed Shelter in Place.

Numbers of businesses have closed, restaurants, bars, eating establishments are closed, except for pick-up meals. Schools and colleges have closed.Other businesses-considered as non-essential- have temporaily closed.

People are asked to stay at home and limit their going out except: to buy groceries, pick-up medicines, see a doctor, put gas in the car. In all instances, no touching, hugging, shaking hands,(maybe an elbow bump). The recommendation is to remain six feet apart. In other words: shelter-in-place and limit going out to once or twice a week.

How soon does stir-crazy set in? All the kids are home, all day every day. The spouse or significant other that you love dearly - because you are together all the time- except for those 8 or 10 hours each day when you both are at work. Now he/she is there- all the time--.

What Does This Have To Do with WA?

If you live in the U.S. as I do, We have ample knowledge in working at home. If you are a part-time home worker, now is the time to put in a full eight hours a day of work on your website. Plan out your daily schedule and work with it each day

. See if you can expand on advertisers, or affiliates, I think we are supposed to call them, now that you have more time. You may even have some time to do some creative thinking.Take a look at your website. Can it use some "sprucing up?" Set aside some time to work out problems that you never seem to get to on your regular schedule.

You may have a new idea in the back of your mind that you would like to explore, or expand your social media coverage, or catch up on those back lessons.

With so many businesses shutdown, people are turning to the internet, and online business is bound to surge. Take advantage of it.

If you have never kept a journal, now is a great time to start. Set aside some time each day to write down your thoughts, ideas and daydreams.Write about some serious considerations you may have about life and times in general and today's work in particular.

Keep it up even after this crisis is long gone. You will find you have recorded some excellent material for future use.

Don't forget about your pets. Changes in the daily routine effect them, too. Remember to shop for their food when you shop for yours. If you need a veterinarian, call first. Some have changed their hours and methods of seeing patients.

Finally, don't forget to call relatives and friends. You may not be within touching distance, but you can keep in touch. And write, write, write content every chance you get!

Damn the torpedoes (Covid 19)...FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Great post Barbara!

Let us be careful but let us NOT be defeated through fear!

America has the most food within its territory, the most food in its pantries, the most food in refs....but we raid our stores a lot more than those with less supplies. It does not make sense.

I hope all is well with you, Barb!
