Honor the Working Man & Woman

Labor Day is set aside in The United States of America and Canada, to honor the working man and woman. Labor day is also considered the last day of summer, the start of public school and the end of vacations .It's time to get back to work and punch our way to the end of another year.

However, this year is a bit different than preceding years. Because of a pandemic, many of our businesses have been shut down, schools have been closed, and a lot of workers find themselves out of a job. Some small businesses have been closed for good. Budding entrepreneurs find their dreams of owning their own businesses, just that- a dream.

However, it is appropriate to honor the working people--those who labored for us in spite of covid 19: health workers, service people, delivery folks and so many more, we can't begin to name them. But we can say "Thank you" to all who essentially risked their lives to keep things moving for those of us who spent our time locked down.

On the other side, the lockdown gave many people a chance to explore different ways to make a living. Many of us in WA found some extra time to work on our own websites, or to finish up our lessons, and going back to expand our social media efforts.

I did some of that, I especially worked on content, but I will have to admit, I didn't do as much as I should have done.

More importantly, we all should have a different perspective on life than we had before Covid. This year, honoring the working man and woman should mean more to us than before. Under pressure, we willingly spent more time and effort helping each other; we pulled together to check on those less fortunate, we put our best efforts together to find out different ways to meet the needs of our communities, and hopefully, we found a new appreciation for our families.

Maybe the troubles of this year 2020 will make us think differently about what is important in our lives and what isn't.

Hopefully we can treat each other with more consideration than we have before.

Something to take with us as we honor working men and women today:

The temper of life is to be made good by big, honest blows: Stop striking and you will accomplish nothing; strike feebly, and you will do almost as little. Success rides on every hour--grapple it, and you may win; but without a grapple it will never go with you. Work is the weapon of honor, and who lacks the weapon will never triumph.--Ik Marvel

I sure appreciate what the workers do for us, in the stores and everywhere.

Nice blog Bard. Happy Labor Day to you and to all the hard workers people including myself.
