My 1st month here.

I thought I knew a lot about websites and boy was I wrong. I remember many years ago when my parents visited me looking very excited. They had just bought an eCommerce package sold to them for an insane amount of money and wanted my help setting it up. I worked on it and got it all running-they were selling health supplies since both my parents are from medical backgrounds. In return for my hard work they gave me free-reign to do whatever I wanted on another site that came with the package. This is where my internet journey began and, of course, the inception of my gadget site.

I had a lot of ups & downs and back then reputable suppliers were few and far between, the profit margins were very tight (and still are). But if there's one thing that I'll never forget is the feeling that I'd get when an email would pop up in my inbox notifying me of a sale. It was such an exciting feeling and probably the one thing that kept me motivated to continue. The site did well for a while but then demand dropped and the competition kept increasing.....

If I knew all the valuable lessons that Kyle has been taking me through I certainly would have been able to keep my site afloat, remain competitive and market myself effectively even during the tough times.

A constant theme with all the lessons is that persistence pays off. I've not yet experienced the exciting feeling of making my first sale through WA but I'm certain that this is within spitting distance.

Working on my new site has had it challenges- I'm a quick learner but don't have a great deal of time during the day. My full-time job is very demanding, so rather than waiting until after work to work on my site, I've been forcing myself to get up very early (3am) and focus for a solid 4 hours on what needs doing (I wish it could be more). Its a bit frustrating because I have so many ideas, but I just have to accept that the process will be a lot slower. If any of you are feeling a bit deflated, I urge you to keep at it because it will happen eventually....

Remember that I did it once before without any of the amazing resources that are offered here.

Right! Back to work.....

regards

Jonathan (Jay).

With your background, it will be up and up from here. Be patient. Cheers

Thanks Jill. I'm excited to see where I'll be in 6 months.

Wow! I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this post but I REALLY DID! It's awesome to hear from the perspective of someone who's done this on their own and compare it with WA. It gives me all the more confidence that this is the real deal. Thanks Jay!

Thanks Eros and your welcome. Its definitely the real deal. Kyle's knowledge is second to none.

I'm waiting for my first sale and going to make some big noise when it happens. My job and my husband are demanding. So happy to hear your encouraging words.

Thanks for reading! That first sale will come and when it does it makes all the hard work worth it!

You seem to have the necessary drive and dedication to stick it out Jay, so just dont give it up too soon .
Success comes at different times to different people, so you never know when your work will start to pay off big time.
Just be patient and be consistent.
Best of luck.

Cheers Theuns. If there's one thing I know is that nothing worthwhile comes easy. Being in this community has renewed my confidence and taught me skills that I didn't even know I had. And that's just in 1 month!

Jay what a wonderful story. Pleased to see you are back online - and learning even more. You are right about the persistence - just keep going....!!! Well done! Sarah.

Thanks Sarah. As my nephew always says to me "Sharing is caring!"

Good luck to you!

Hi Gail, good luck to you too.

Good luck and hope you succeed in what ever you do at WA

thank you and I wish the same for you!

You did it once before and you will do it again .
Good luck.

Thanks Shirley. The beginning is always the hardest part.

We're with Loes, 3am !!!, wow.
What time do you go to bed?

I tried it the other way round i.e. working on the site after work, but found that I was mentally exhausted & wasn't taking anything in.

I usually hit the sack around 10pm :)

mmmmmm - 5 hours sleep isn't bad, but if I was in your shoes, I'm sure I'd be wanting a kip in the middle of the day. lol
Jane

I have a kip in the car at lunch. a much-needed POWER NAP! lol

When you can keep up this schedule, there will be success, 3am? Every day?

Thanks Loes. 3am every single week day (for now). weekends are a bit easier though :)

Chapeau!

Merci!
