The Entire Day to Write a Post - 1309 words

OK the cover photo has nothing to do with this post other than it was the Featured Image for the post.

So I wrote just over 1300 words on what can be a very technical and hard to describe in "ten words or less" type subject - one of those that you don't really need to know how it works but just that it works; like electricity. Kinda good to know but not essential if you know what I mean.

So my aim was to write a short description for people to understand a rather complicated subject.

Sometimes too much knowledge can be a hindrance and in this case that is exactly what happened.

After writing the post and revising it umpteen times I then had to find suitable images (I like to use only photos I have taken myself) and the correct place to post both internal and external links. This was not a review post and not likely to help with sales yet hopefully to help with ranking for low hanging keywords.

Once all done I then had to head over to Google plus to let my band of followers (and more importantly the big G) know that it is now available for reading and comments.

Then it was over to Google console to get big G to crawl it and then over to Bing to do likewise.

All of that took me a long time - not afraid to admit at least 6 hours! Holy Moly the wine at dinner tasted well-deserved - I can tell ya!

Normally I can knock these out much quicker but today was a mission.

Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

Oh and what wine do you drink?

That's quite a big post, Lawrence. Congratulations.
.....I like to drink Chianti :-)

Not common drink here - quite rare in fact

Glad you got through it. I remember that my first ever product review took me 8 hours to finish. ..... He he he they do get quicker with time and experience

It wasn't even a product review. Just a blog post really but one of those things that is hard to describe in words.
Normally with posts I take just over an hour from scratch.
Not this one.
Then this morning I read it and hated it so I made some changes - even more time spent on it and I don't think it is the end of it yet. :)
All good fun I suppose.

It is better to take your time and make sure everything is just the way you want it before putting a post in the public domain.

Not surprising if you have to do research as well. Time is always an issue in this business.Well done.

Most of it is in my head but to get it simplified was the issue.
I don't think my target market wants to know the formula but i do believe they want a brief outline and to know the messenger understands the subject.
It was challenging but a lot of fun and I couldn't believe how the time flew.
Thanks for your comment

Wow! I have to say a technical post is challenging to begin with. I usually write the entire article (~1000 words) in one shot but that's my first draft and I don't publish it until I reviewed it through at least once. For me, there is no perfect article and so I try to limit myself to 2 hours or so to publish one post. It gets longer if I have to include more images, as I am not really creative with image search but I am finding Canva to be a great resource.

6 hours well spent on a quality post is worth more then a couple of hours spent on a fledging post. Well done for having the determination to follow though.

I am quite partial to a good Bordeaux or Rioja

Thanks
now those are wines we don't come across here that frequently.
Be good to share a few glasses one day and compare notes

Sometimes it can be a real struggle. I usually step away for a bit. Go for a walk do some exercising. Then get back to it with a fresh mind.

I'm the opposite - once I start I need to finish the job. I prefer to come back later and amend but if I don't complete it "now" then its not likely to ever get posted.
Sometimes the amendments are radical but I can live with that. :)

HAhah I do understand that feeling. But usually at that point it becomes a fight between man and post haha :P
