FaceBook -
I have 4 pages:

  1. A personal page
  2. Two photography related - one promoting photo safaris to India and South Africa and the other promoting my portrait work
  3. An older IAM related page with a product I was promoting. The vendor has since disappeared with his product. The original website is now for sale but I have no idea how to sell it.

Pinterest

Confusion reigns with a number of IDs after trying to follow Kyle's training.

I now have boards and pins that even I don't understand. The good news is I have no followers so not yet making an ass of myself.
I am clueless with IG and can't fathom how it will increase my exposure.

Instagram.

Love it for vegan recipes but don't use it much other than to show off photos

LinkedIn

One personal account which I never visit and again don't really understand how it all fits in.

YouTube

Yep I have an account - never utilised. Need to use this.

Twitter.

a Personal account. For some reason I have disliked Twitter since day one. I mean seriously what is with "tweeting"?

Is it an age thing or is it me burying my head in the sand?

Sometimes I get to a part in training about social media and hit a brick wall - I have no idea (or is it desire?) to get over it or around it.

Shoot me please.

Facebook limits e posture for small businesses more and more. Still good to have a business page though.
Twitter is brilliant for me. I have spent years building a following. Think of it as a pond. Your tweet is a stone, it causes a ripple when dropped in. Every time someone retweets your tweet it causes more ripples that spread outwards, meaning more people see the tweet and therefore more know about your business.
Instagram ..... I don’t really get it but do it anyway as it is apparently a good business tool. I am building followers and adding posts.
Pinterest I kind of get but dont understand how people can waste so much time on it. But again it’s a good tool so worth gaining followers and adding your posts to a board.
Linked in is also good exposure apparently so worth doing too.
Not got You Tube yet.
Must admit it took me a good while to get my head round social media, I only use it for business though.

Instagram IMHO is a crock 'o shite. Don't BUY anything on it, my bargain e - bike 20" wheels for a mere $529 and I got a pair of worthless fake raybans delivered!

Instagram however given that fascistbook is now a proven far left Muslim promoting site (Saudi Whabbists own 40%) is far better.

Full of professionals not looking for dating or games and I believe you can build tp 30,000 contacts not 5,000.

Good luck with your projects.

Kind regards,

ian H

I think what you are saying is FaceBook is far better.
Help me out here I'm on my second glass of wine. :)

No what I am saying is that for WA Linkedin is a far better platform. People are quitting fascistbook in droves due the censorship. Also take a good look at MeWe an alternative open platform.

Thanks will do.
I haven't come across MeWe before

I'm with you pal. Don't understand them, don't use them and don't care. I can, however, see how if you had your post or blog automatically placed on the social areas, you just might get a "share" and that would increase visibility and thus traffic to your site. Something to think about.
Blessings
Linda

I feel your pain. Might be an age thing but it's a real thing. lol

Here's a good article that addresses an alternative.

Take a rest and start again. It gets faster with time. Being on most social sites helps you to see their similarities and increases your knowledge such that any new one is less daunting.

No time for rest I am afraid.

It's all about linking back to your website, and your posts. If you make the attempt, it will start to make more sense after a while. Tom

Yes I do need to make the effort

I dislike social media but it is a means to an end so I will use it. The only ones I use are Facebook and LinkedIn.

Derek

Hi Lawrence, you can make use LinkedIn as a place to post. I will work for you in gaining followers.
Same send out some tweets to Twitter, here to you can grow your audience.
You can start up a whole new Pinterest board related to your site here on WA. I am show your photography of India and South Africa will stimulate interest. Just link all these social media back to your website.
I am working with Instagram and have a few followers there.
Haven't had much luck with You Tube and as far as Facebook have friends not followers.

I would like to see your website if you don't mind sending me a PM with your URL.

Wishing you the best,
Michael

Which website would you like to see Michael?
I could use some help with my WA promotion site.
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,
I would like to see the site that you mentioned...WA promotion site.
Perhaps we can work together see what we can come up with.

Best wishes,
Michael

Hi Michael.
I replied to your PM.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
Lawrence

I find social media stuff the least interesting part of business - but probably a necessary evil 🤪

That's how I feel.

I use Facebook and Pinterest. I find Facebook the easiest to use. You can set up a business page and share your posts on there, then interact if you get comments.

How do you gain relevant followers and not just friends from your personal page?

I don't use my personal page for business. I have a separate name using my domain name as the title. I do the same for Twitter. In fact, I have two business pages on both, one for each of my websites. Then I always publish my new post to these, with a little blurb of introduction.
