Beginning with Conclusion

The lovely, ever-friendly, ever-helpful and hard working (although she is no doubt fast asleep on the other side of the world as I type this) @LouisBT asked me to critique her WA Review.

Why me?

I have no idea. She probably thinks I have nothing better to do than get all envious of her writing skills.

The review is, as expected, up to her usual inimitable standard. Grrr ...

Anyway I did come up with a suggestion or two - you're supposed to when critiquing, right?

The following is not a suggestion I made to her but I have to confess I got the idea while reading her review and thought it might work on the latest post (not a review) on my website.

The idea is to start the blog with a brief intro - to introduce the keyword, and follow that immediately with the "conclusion".

I think it might work to provide a "conclusion" very early in the piece. Obviously it would need to be intriguing enough to entice the reader to read the entire post to determine how and why how you came to the conclusion you did.

Has anyone tried this?

I'd be keen to know the outcome/results/feedback.

If I get all the feedback I need within the next 6 hours I coould then delete this post and Louise won't even know we spoke about her behind her zzzzzzzs.

Have a good day y'all

I have heard that the conclusion should be the first thing you write. Seems insane, but if you understand the end you can figure out how to get there from the beginning so as to support your conclusion. I have used that concept in the past and it did help.
Thanks for sharing will have to consider using it more often.
Ray

That's good to know Ray. I appreciate your comment.

What has me interested in this particular approach is where you have a long post that may result in them thinking "Hurry up already" - give them the conclusion and they now how it will end.

Lawrence

Any opinion is very useful.

Hope your friend will get lots of value from yours.

Wish you all the best!

Bob

Looks like she did - see below, or is it above? I'm never quite sure which way these things move

Haha! You never cease to make me laugh, thank you so much :-)

Speaking of writing skills, you are definitely up there with the best!

Thank you too for your time critiquing my review, you've given me valuable ideas - hey, this may be a service you could offer and charge for :-) Just not me, I get "friends and family specials" lol.

Blessings always
Louise

too late - invoice already posted

You actually hit on a process we in sales used to talk about and train others in. It's called the trial close. We did that a few times during our presentation, and later when we actually closed the buyer or in this case, the reader came to a conclusion that led to signing or buying with a clear understanding.
Good reminder and idea.
Take care,
Bill

Now that is interesting

That sounds like a fun idea, and might be a good way to catch your reader's attention.

Hi Lawrence,

No, I have never done this but it sounds very interesting. As you have mentioned, it just might be intriguing enough to make the reader read the rest of the post. Sometimes you have to think outside the box. Sounds good enough to give it a try!

Much success to you!

Kind regards,
Nichola

I think I will try it. Nothing to lose. :)

Go for it! Best of luck!
